Yer but good luck with a trade that would satisfy Carlton
I don't think it would be as hard as you'd expect if the interest was real.

Personally I'd ship him off for not much if it meant we could keep TDK and bring in another target to address our outside run. I think he'd be suited to getting out of the Melbourne footy bubble too.

A sensible opposition fan coming onto our board for a change. Not a big fan of McKay coming over but agree with your sentiment though

I know he gets a bad wrap due to some bad brain fades but imo he's a fantastic forward, we don't play a style that suits his strengths though. We play to Cripps and Curnow's strengths and the rest have had to adapt.

Same thing has happened with Walsh. Under Teague we played a far wider offense where we were able to move the ball at speed and in space and tried capitalizing off slingshot footy which allowed Mckay to lead in a fairly open forward line and Walsh to run riot in space.

We now play a very congested and slow style which means he has to wrestle a lot and try and take pack marks all the time (which he can do but it isn't his biggest weapon imo)

Personally think he'd be every chance of winning another Coleman if he went to Geelong, Hawthorn, Brisbane or you guys (if you get back to your 2024 form) where the forward line is open and players can lead into space for easy shots on goal consistently.

Anyway, not here to pump up his tires too much but I don't think he'd be as hard to get as some would think, apparently theres quite a bit of division amongst our playing group re Voss and the coaching staff. Some love him and some can't wait to see the back of him.

I’d rather not McKay or anyone go to Geelong this year. Can they stay out of trading for once? My gripe at Geelong at the moment with their questionable salary cap lol

It's not questionable at all. They have 'ITK's on their board who openly state they've set up players with cheap housing through 3rd parties where they essentially rent a millionaires palace for free and have it sold to them later down the track for a can on coke and some twisties.

A great discussion on AW yesterday with Richo talking about what Leigh Matthews has been saying and that these days forwards are just the same as years ago , it's just that team defence has improved and taken over . Richo said in his career he would get 1-2 one out contests forward a Q and at the end it was 1-2 a game.
Made me think about Saturday with McLean and to be fair when going for a mark he would have more than 1 on him and really only once was on his own and was it Blakey that spotted him up over the top to a easy mark
Another reason we have forwards like Logan who has to roam up the ground
It's not a bad theory

Makes sense think defensive theory has come a long way across most sports in the last 20-30 years with zone defences and being able to create opportunities to neutralise players through creating a 2v2 or 3v3 rather than a clear cut 1v1. Probably just a lot of maths behind it that drawing/outright winning contest goes up in those scenarios than a 1v1 where there would be a higher loss %

Careful, you’re getting me very excited.

It's quite possible that the McKay talk is us just trying to make the dogs think we aren't that keen on JUH. I honestly don't know what to think about JUH and will trust those who have all of the inside information to make the right choice - or at least make the gamble when the odds are more for than against.

I'm also pretty sure that the Bont is just waiting for Bevos extension to be announced before he starts his own talks.

You have a genuine interest in McKay.

My money says that he gets to you at the end of the year.

But how? unless there is significant issues and your club wants cap relief? if this is sorely on our end chasing a player with 5 years remaining you can rightly ask for 2x first round picks.

Heck you can ask for anything really

I’m not sure what it would take to get a deal done, but I reckon all sides would be pretty satisfied if something was worked out. And honestly, if you’re willing to take on his hefty contract, I don’t think the price would be as high as some people think.

Vossy fell out of the bed when he heard the rumour!

Not sure how you'd value him but I'd take your current first and Florent for Mckay. Gives us some cap room to possibly keep TDK and a valuable pick for another player or top end draftee. Would probably do a bit of shuffling to make sure you could still afford a bid on King.

Not sure whats going on with Florent, Cox seems to be making a bit of an example of him atm but he's always been a solid role player in my eyes. One that we could sorely do with given we've got the slowest list ever assembled.

Yer thats fair if Florent wants to move and it does look like he is being phased out for reasons unknown.

If our first is below 9 or 10, maybe.

But the club will be keen to get a pick before the bid comes for Max King - so if (as seems likely) our pick is 8 or up - no dice.

Personally, I’m not sure McKay is that good.
