It’s no different to people not wanting to trade two first rounders for Jagga. If they say they would have preferred to take player x and y who would’ve been available than that is fair. They have an argument, not sure about validity
as long as they are realistic I don’t have a real issue with anyone’s opinions. As long as they are saying we shouldn't take Dean and take 12 and 14 to the draft as well as a points deficit on our 2026 first rounder (or passing on Ison as well).

The funny thing is how highly we rate draft picks when it comes to trades for current players but than happily spend two mid first rounders on an unproven kid.
Tied to the club I totally agree. In saying that, if they AFL had a proper system in place that also shouldn’t matter and if they change the rules next season it will be less important. It's slightly different with a highly rated player tied to the club

I’m not disagreeing but I’ll take my hat off to someone who can name two players they would prefer and be proven right.Once again...two mid first rounders on two unproven kids and a future early second round pick (if the posited trades are correct).
Flip the discussion - if we were in North's position, would you trade 25 and an early future second for what will probably be Pick 15 this year? Take a look at Twomey's phantom and the names around those levels this year and see if the decent future pick is a price you'd pay to move from 25 to 15.
Devils will get 7 concessionary picks which means there will be a minimum of 25 picks in round 1.Likewise Sydneys 2027 first round could easily be in the 30s
We just don't know at this stage.
In the 40's, that actually is a laugh. 40 pick first round, haha, there might barely only be 40 picks in this years entire draft. You really come up with some bizarre stuff. In the 40s?
First, why would there be 10 F/S picks?Devils will get 7 concessionary picks which means there will be a minimum of 25 picks in round 1.
Add another 10 for F/S, academy, compensation picks and round 1 could be around 35 picks in 2027.
Even if swans finished top 4, pick 30/31 in 2027 may still yield a pretty good player. There’s no guarantee that #26 this year will be superior to a #31 in 2027 or any year for that matter.
Impressive. I didn’t read any of it but the amount of quoting is impressive. The real crime is what your football department did with the picks and player we gave you.
Owies was a list fill you overpaid for in contract numbers.
Yeah because at no point could you swing any of your 3 spare ruck/forwards into defence or pick up someone like Sam Frost or Wade Derksen...
Not a chance your list management team would waste a top pick when you're already top heavy unless they add a massive point if difference, which is CDT and Robey, not Dean.
The lever has swung too far the other way, particularly if GWS also bid on Kyle, who has shown shit all.
If I were Sydney I'd pass.
Pretty confident it would have been 8-14.
If he gets through to Richmond I think we're in with a shot to trade for their 2nd pick after executing other trades while retaining 9.
That's exactly what happens, yes. So if they're bluffing, we go to our next set of trades.
Yes, because the system is the system, the ordinance is what hurts us the most and isn't commensurate.
It's more that Schubert is sliding, Thredgold is rising, alongside his injury/consistency issues.
Murray as well, they're hoping to stave off a first round deficit. Coulson seems a solid chance to make it into the free hit zone.
I don't recall SOS pressing hard on Scrimshaw or anyone else back in the day.
Mac Andrew was drafted as a ruck/forward, I rated DGB and McAsey as reaches at the time.
And Cal used to copy someone else...
There's literally Robey, who is a key forward that can pivot to being a big mid, and Taylor, who can go either way too from defence despite being 191.
The word is they're all mostly sliding for non-football reasons.
That's not how this works.
There will be a corp of posters who assume we could/should have somehow secure an arbitrary pick (let's call it 20) through better dealing/negotiation/bluffing/voodoo, and any player taken from that point of the draft onwards who turns out to be any good could/should/would have been ours if the club were more competent. or if said posters were managing our list.
That kid who got taken at 43, worked his arse off, came good, kicked 4 goals in a game against us in 2028? Should have been a Blue.
I hear the AFL is planning a 2027 draft breakfast and will be starting at 9.00am and hope to finish by 9.00pm to get through the 40+ round 1 picks…In the 40's, that actually is a laugh. 40 pick first round, haha, there might barely only be 40 picks in this years entire draft.

First, why would there be 10 F/S picks?
Second, that's not how that works.
Even under the old bidding scenario, but especially under the new bidding scenario, in order to meet first round selections, a number of draft picks will be required, if there were up to 10 F/S in the first draft, at least half of them would be using late first round selections to match the points on those bids, which then means those selections can't be picked by that team "in the first round", meaning it wouldn't extend the first round by a linear equivalent to the number of F/S selected.
Exactly - he’s list manager Gold.I think Dean is just very bankable. Easy to see what he becomes. Can slot in at CHB for the next 10 years. Has all the traits to play that role at AFL level. Great if youre a rebuilding club.
Thats a rarity if you look at the top of the draft board this year. There are alot of talented guys whose role at the next level isn't clear.
What is the thought process here?Has there been further chats about on trading 27 and 30? I’d like to see us trade 27 with WCE for 34 and 41, then trade 30 with pies for 39 and their F2. I think that’s better for us then the pick in the 40’s
They aren't bidding on Brisbane kid because Brisbane over paid for OA so that WC got a band 1 instead of band 2 pick.If West Coast bid on the Suns and/or Lions academy players first at pick 2/3 does that affect what we pay for Dean?
YesWhat is the thought process here?
Sorry you're right, I should appeal to the lowest common denominator and farm likes through simple formatting and swift, simplified statements or at least lots of exclamation points... trueImpressive. I didn’t read any of it but the amount of quoting is impressive.
