But if it's the WAFL teams that are doing the development rather than the the an Eagles academy for instance, that may be part of the issue2/3s of WAs population live in Perth , more than the population of SA. I think it is just neglected and needs more funding.
Can he back up the figjam talk? if he can then Im ok with him thinking he's awesome. He loves himself so much that he constantly would swipe right on his own reflection.
Is it actually that far fetched, i saw last night WC offer Hawks their F2 to move up one spot in the draft, as we already have two 1st round picks next year and two the year after and with clubs trading F2 to climb one spot in the draft, amassing a huge draft hand isn’t far fetched.here will be zero chance any club will be getting 4 first rounders from matching bids anytime in the future unless they completely gut the year before, the year after s draft picks and most likely good players being chopped.
I think the problem is too much money is going to prop up WAFL teams and not enough is going to promote junior footy in WA.But if it's the WAFL teams that are doing the development rather than the the an Eagles academy for instance, that may be part of the issue

And if they don't jump bid on their playersWC have pick 34 so a F2 might be on the table.
Gold Coast walk away with 4 top 20 picks plus Petracca this off season.

The talk appears to be their next two batches of academy kids aint much chop at the moment, so that should quiet everyone down about their academy for a while at least.
The other issues they will have is that they can't fit all the 1st round talent they have into their team and 1st rounders don't like being stuck in the 2s. Rogers , Walter & others might drop out cheaply in the futureI see a lot of people are wondering how GCS could bring in 4 first round picks plus Patrecca
They’ve been stock piling picks form trades for a few years now and now finally they’ve been made to pay the maximum for all there academy kids, it’s kinda of forced them go all in this year, it’s cleaned out all the picks they’d saved up plus wiped out their entire draft hand this year and next year as well.
So yes they’ve bought in these 4 academy kids plus Trac but they had to really sell the farm to do it.
If we do trade down then I hope we use that selection on Wes Walley.

That ignores the fact they had 4 first round selections in 2023 (Walter #3, Read #9, Rogers #14, Graham #26) and 1 first rounder in 2024 (Lombard #9) to go with their other 4 last night.I see a lot of people are wondering how GCS could bring in 4 first round picks plus Patrecca

Such an important post.
Up here in Syd, the Swans have a squad of 14/15 year-old's on the radar which are elite talents at multiple sports, usually league and or union or great swimmers, which would only be playing AFL if they lived in Vic. The challenge up here is to keep them in the system long enough for them to turn the comer and show some real promise.
They do a magnificent job up here, even more so GWS, that they deserve the right to be able to draft these players. If the Vic teams put half as much effort into the juniors as the northern states do, the AFL would be a MUCH stronger competition.
With R360 beginning to turn some heads up here, I fear that we could lose a generation of possible AFL players back to League and Union.

That's 9 first rounders in 3 years, and add Petracca this season. I don't think it's unfair for others that feel this is too much.
You say they've had to sell the farm but what other club has had close to that volume of first rounders over a 3 year period?
But if 2022 - 2024 had the same rules and DVI as this year, they wouldn't have been able to get all that.
It is different now.
Under the old rules you could trade your high picks for futures , plus late picks to match bids. Made it very easy to just keeping pushing draft picks forward.
What would be the point of trading back?
If we can trade 28 for another future second to WC or elsewhere, why not do it? And get Ison with whats left?To be fair it was the saints 2nd rounder (for Liam Ryan) not the Eagles F2. Based on this year that's probably a pick in the mid 30's. Average work yes, but not as bad as it first looks. Is it actually that far fetched, i saw last night WC offer Hawks their F2 to move up one spot in the draft, as we already have two 1st round picks next year and two the year after and with clubs trading F2 to climb one spot in the draft, amassing a huge draft hand isn’t far fetched.
I like that. Get them to throw in 51, which they'll probably not use anyway, and gives us cover for Ison. Also allows us a late pick if we want it.All along we have wanted another 26F1. I think we should be pushing 28 plus Roos 26F2 for another F1. I would love it to be the pies.
His highlights are awesome.
Great kick on both feet. Accurate, long, penetrating. Can find the ball. Great overhead. Played senior SANFL football. Looks quick and explosive. A stronger build then his brother. Could probably play on any line.
Struggling to see how hes fallen so far in a weak draft.
For a team that needs to find at least 10 players of AFL standard to be competitive, you cant afford to piss draft picks up against the wall.To be fair it was the saints 2nd rounder (for Liam Ryan) not the Eagles F2. Richmond...over two years. Also had to give up plenty for it.That ignores the fact they had 4 first round selections in 2023 (Walter #3, Read #9, Rogers #14, Graham #26) and 1 first rounder in 2024 (Lombard #9) to go with their other 4 last night.
