Is TDK really enjoying playing at Carlton at the moment? We’ve won 5 games and had 7 losses this year, and 7 wins and 14 losses since July last year. 🙁

Football is a part of his life but not everything and will be his main source of income for the next 7 or 8 years. It’s not something I think he’d rely on to bring him happiness….be a miserable 12 months for him if he did.
Be bored to death playing with Stains or erratic playing with us. Lots of PS5s can be bought with all those millions… he’ll go.

What do you think our biggest issues are?
Same reason I've been banging on about for years.

Speed, kicking skill and rubbish small forwards who provide absolutely nothing up the field for the rest of the team.

I also think it's gotten to the stage where our A graders have become tired of dealing with the same issues for years and look to have put the cue in the rack a bit. Walsh and Charlie look completely disinterested at times, Mckay has had issues rumoured to stem from a fight with Hamill... Cripps looks to be trying to share the load around when we'd probably be better with him trying to play superman again.

To be honest I think the team knows they aren't up to it this year and after a poor start to the year have started looking to next year. Right now the only players trying their guts out are youngsters or senior players trying to prove themselves for a contract extension. Our team selections this year also appear to be leaning that way with plenty of debutants and youngsters playing more and more prominent roles in the team.

With a good off season and a solid reset from some core players I really don't see this team as being that far off it. This season has been s*** but we've uncovered some good finds in terms of new positions for players and improved form from others.

How do you feel about the coaching staff? Do you think they're holding us back or is it more of a list management problem?

I think there's issues with the coaching staff. Clear as day there's a breakdown in our somewhere... As to who's to blame? That is far less clear.

I'm not convinced that the blame falls on Michael Voss alone with that.

My biggest concern over the coaching staff is a lack of player belief leading to them wanting out or playing below their level. If that's the case then I think they should go.

Imo the biggest issue still rests with the list team. They have assembled the most one paced list in the league and have shown a complete inability to pick a good small forward over multiple years.

At this point why would we keep him. He barely beat Flynn today who is probably the worst ruckman in the competition.
Flynn has held his own against plenty of rucks this year. Far from the worst in the comp.

TDK also one of our best I thought, would be in line for coaches votes again for me.

I am surrounded by Eagles supporters in my life and I have never heard one of them say anything positive about Flynn.

TDK dropped about 3 or 4 marks he should have taken and made some really dumb decisions with the ball in hand tonight.

Based on his performances this year he isn’t worth what we are offering him let alone what the Saints are allegedly offering him.

I actually think if the offer size being reported in the media is correct then the Saints need to pull the offer.

I don't disagree on the contract situation. Can't afford to be paying TDK 1.5 mil a year or something nuts. We have far bigger list priorities to address.

But I actually think Flynn has been alright this year. As close to the stereotypical 'battler' as you'll get but still shows some fight and has a few moments each game which can be crucial for his team.

I find this a bit confusing. Is Morris saying that if we don't reduce the gap he's gone? Or is it still a decision even if we don't lift our offer? And also not sure what the significance is of saying that his manager and the people around him are trying to reduce the gap. Isn't that just their job...

It’s makie uppie guessi guessi - he has no idea. So many journos just give themselves enough wiggle room for either result

If I was the club, I'd be having a word to Tom about his management company not doing things with his best interest in mind.

That being said, I'm me, and if I heard that from his management team, I'd be putting him in my car and driving him to St Kilda and telling him to get the **** out if he wants to be a campaigner about things because of money.

I think its just about his management trying to squeeze every possible $ out of us. At what point it actually changes TDKs decision is anyone's guess.

Yes, we lack x-Factor small forwards, Speedy HB Distributors and speed and foot skills in the midfield.

However the thing we lack the most is:

Leadership…

We don’t have leaders that demand and drive standards on field and off field, that exude pride in the jumper and our rivalry’s.

We don’t have leadership on the board that demands on field success.

We don’t have a coach (group) that is ruthless driving standards or we wouldn’t be having the same problems for years.

Until this changes, doesn’t matter who we bring in, we’ll get the same results.

If I'm Graham Wright, I'm instructing Austin to offer him 850k / season for 4 years. Not 1 dollar more. If he's not happy, leave.

  • He's not in the top 5 rucks in the comp
  • You don't pay a ruck $1M / season, cap increase or not
  • He hasn't performed anywhere near the asking price
  • No AA selections under his belt yet
  • Highest B&F finish was 7th (2024)
  • He doesn't kick enough goals, in fact rarely impacts when playing forward

The offers he's getting from the Saints and us is purely on potential, but he hasn't lived up to it yet to warrant such offers imo.

I think we now have enough evidence to be confident with our list management decision that Jess Motlop is not AFL standard, at least not best 22. I think our list management up until now had this blind belief that he would come good.. well the jury is out and he has had every opportunity to show it but consistently underperforms and what he has shown us is his level.. and its not good enough.

He’s got to be one of the worst kicks into fwd50 going around.
Sky ball every frickin time. What use/good is that!?
Not even close to a $1M player.
