2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

It's pie in the sky, but if JUH was offered with a substantial amount of salary paid for a future 1st (in one of the upcoming, heavily compromised drafts), you'd have to think about it wouldn't you?
Bak to the Facebook nuffers page with posts like these

Would Moose to the Dees mean we're keeping Roma?
I can't see a world where we keep Heath, even if Marshall goes. We will only offer a 1 year deal, and he'll undoubtedly get more years than that somewhere else.
I'm hoping that the pick for Heath is enough to get us Aleer, but I don't actually know what Aleer will cost. You'd assume Heath = Melbourne 3rd or F3?

We need pace out of the middle. Really need Naz and Garcia to take their centre clearance work to another level.
NAZ, Garcia, Pou, Hall and occasionally Ryan, Henry, and Windy rotating through. Then we have unknowns Dow, Flanders or CMAC ( if they come) with the mid inside rocks, Steele and Macrae.

I love Garcia, hope to buggery he makes it, his speed out of congestion is something we lack, only Nas has him beat

He's only a 50/50 to make it tho :( needs to pick up the disposal number this year

There a mess
The whole club needs a massive mental jolt from the president down

Getting rid of a few senior guys who arent 100% could do them wonders, they've got some decent kids
it may not be the best draft to go super heavy into, but they could walk away with possibly 6 1st round picks, 4-5 of them top 10

Garcia is slightly ahead of Zac Butters at the same age. He's only played for 2 seasons. He's on track to be a very good player IMO.

TDK, Nas, Garcia, Philippou should be our ideal centre line. With Wilson and Windhager on the wings, and Hall, Macrae, Steele rotating through, and Ryan and Sinclair chucked in there for variety every now and then.
If the first four reach their potential, that is a brilliant mix of skill, athleticism, grunt and goal kicking ability.
We could also add a Flanders or a CMac this year, or failing that, a FRDP (maybe mini Pou), and Boxshall and Travalia are still developing. For the first time in a long, long time (maybe since the Hayes, Dal Santo, Montagna era), we actually have a midfield

I’d rather trade the first we get for Ro, and trade a future first for Flanders.
I’m keen to take pick 7 to the draft

Next year is going to be a better draft. Even if we play finals it should still be a better pick. The top end of this draft is shit and the back end is worse.

I reckon there are three players I'd have a go at and they'll all be gone or linked to academies. It looks like some of the better ones might be late first round early second round where you just take a gamble on a couple of project players like Ludowyke.

Ideally Marshall traded for a FRDP and we send it to GC for Flanders. 7 for CMac and grab Fincher with scraps. Keep a full suite of picks for 2026.

To me Fincher doesn't look any worse than most of the first round fancies.

Seems like a wonderful human being.

I know many are querying his acquisition but I wish him well.

Well spoken young man. Articulate a d mannered, obviously raised by a great mum.
Who knows if he can be what we want as a footballer, as a Saints representative, I think he will be an asset.
We talk about JUH and culture of the club, well I see no problems with Leek Aleer in that regards.

My ideal trade period would be to turn Marshall Steele and 7

Into Cmac Flanders and Pou Jnr/Ludowyke

Have to make sure we just have kids still coming through underneath this recruitment drive every year. Either pick could develop for 12-24 months away from any pressure to debut. Ala Geelong.

If we lose Marshall, what do we do about the ruck situation?

Not sure if this has already been posted, but Finey was on SEN yesterday saying that Windhager looks like he's staying at the Saints now and we upped our offer Saturday. Also Heath fairly certain to go to Dees
Finey changes his mind every day, Not sure he is one to be listening too

next year is just going to be a crapshoot in the top 10, 5th pick is going to start at 10, there will be compensation picks for existing clubs losing players, F/S and Academy kids, as well as a 17yo mini draft
Proposed Tasmania Devils draft concessions include an enhanced initial draft hand for the 2027 season, with picks 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, and 13, though many are subject to forced trades for experienced players

Vic, who many say has good info, posted on Twitter that it's all done, Windy in NZ, just minor stuff to be signed off with the manager

Maybe stavro#4 can find the tweet, I can't

I don't know why people seem to think because JUH is indigenous he'd come to our club and cease being a complete tool.

I hope we go nowhere near him. Reckon it would be a huge mistake.

I don’t hate the idea anymore, but it would take Brad Hill endorsing him, and Ross obviously being comfortable with it.

And obviously JUH would want to legitimately change the way he lives his life. Stop hanging around with deadbeats and all that.

Seems pretty unlikely, but with the right contractual clauses and a full understanding by the club and players, I wouldn’t lose sleep if we went down that path. Everyone would need to buy in, though.

Jeez the Merret thing is about to go off

players want him gone it seems, Redman's comment dropped his trade value by 1/2, others speaking out. Essendon look they are about to have a line in the sand moment
