2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

And just relax on windy.

They are all still working through it.

Intent is there from both sides.
Our friend Tom Morris did say last night that Windy wants to stay.
Always an important part of it - obviously.
No doubt something will be arranged that will suit both club and player.

This is interesting from Edmund.

The Saints are spreading the word that they will acquire Flanders in the exchange window after making contact with Gold Coast about a trade in the middle of the year.
Would think the nepo baby thing is just part of the media game and story beat up, how did you think Hardwick will react to it even though it’s industry wide knowledge… Basically act outraged to the media but has a chuckle and thumbs up in private. At least we had the balls to point it out.

And now is payback for giving them a AA (Long) on the cheap

Maybe it’s as simple as they don’t rate him at those numbers $$$$?

At this point it has to be a consideration
Well that’s a call for them to make. If we’re gonna be using 30% of the cap on 3 guys (or in this case 5 guys two of whom are Aleer and Ryan) then we’re gonna shed some of what we’ve got.

Everyone can make their own decisions on how they feel about that.

Seems like we have done the ground work on a trade for Flanders already
Gee whiz we if add
TDK
Aleer/Jsos
Liam Ryan
Flanders
Fincher
First round pick? (Maybe that's the price for Flanders)

She's gonna be a fun trade period and even more fun next year

Hot take: if we signed Flanders and Mackenzie, we wouldn't need Windy.
I’d only target CMAC if Windy is going. Otherwise give me windy every day of the week.

CMAC I don’t think is likely, but then again his younger brother is coming through our NGA currently.

Bringing in Flanders & TDK is good business for strengthening our mid-agers.

I’d be keen on Ryan at the right price for a little extra juice towards a tilt with our current seniors.

Aleer / SOS couldn’t give a shit about really but would muster up the excitement should it happen.

I’d want Windy to sign more than any of the above, and I believe he will.

Pick 15ish would be fair.

Makes sense with the reporting of us trading our first for Hawthorns First that WC hold and Ryan.

Not the best result but eh
Not keen on not hitting the draft in the first round.

If losing Marshall and Steele netted us Flanders plus free up draft capital for JSOS, that would be a great net result.

Retain first, lose Marshall and Steele, gain Flanders and JSOS.

We dont have much to help there with no 2nd.

Maybe we'd have to move our first back for multiple picks and get creative?
You’d imagine Flanders will be a first rounder (and not a late one) and in this draft - unlikely getting much change out of our current pick. I cling to draft picks like they’re oxygen and having very few for the draft build up will be like losing a limb. But I’m not keen on this one if I take away the “interest” factor.

With the Suns bringing in 3 possible top 20 players (all midfielders) at the draft, they probably think Flanders will soon become excess. I gather this years 1st or next years comes into play? The Suns probably already have enough points to manage this years draft, hence a pick exchange of next years is more probable.

If we get Flanders.. we are losing somebody! Windy or Steele I’d assume.

Flanders, Macrae, Steele, Windy, Boxshall, Garcia, NAS, Pou all get CBA’s. Throw in Hall & Clark who can rotate in too.

Too many mouths to feed if we get Flanders, will be interesting to see what happens.

Don’t want to lose our first at all, we are no where near in the position yet to be trading first round picks away we still need to draft kids. But maybe they really rate fincher as that first round level prospect, he might be better behind close doors than what is being predicted.

I'm a huge Flanders fan but Gold Coast are going to be absolutely pricks if he wants to come to us. They are not happy at all about our comments so wont make anything easy for us.
Yeah I'm the same. I like that we are going after him, fits a need and a good age bracket.

As long as we are prepared to walk away when the asking price gets too high.

I would take Flanders over anyone available at our pick in this draft

I'm not sure he's worth giving away a top ten pick for. Not sure how we make it work though.

Think we would regret losing Marshall. Don't think losing Steele is a big deal now we have Macrae.

We have a lot of midfield options next year. NAS, Hall, Pou, Windy, Garcia, Boxshall, Wilson.

Not sure him staying helps us that much.
I think the plan is to certainly keep Marshall, but those two represent the pressure value if things get tight.
