2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Gold Coast are going to need so many picks this year to get their academy kids in. I think they would know losing players is going to have to happen.

Could be their last free lunch too.

Likely their last free lunch. Their cap must be pretty cooked especially with King OOC next year, wanting Curnow, Rowell coming out of contract in 2 years etc so maybe a good deal will happen where we take on Flanders contract.

No, I still think it starts from the nas windy Owens draft.

If they think this draft is weak. Then it makes sense to trade out and hit next years when they don’t have cap room to target players.
Naaah stav I remember you were arguing with me about when the drafting started. I said 2021 and I'm pretty sure you said 2023 and your argument was because that was the year Ross came in

All good if you've changed your mind though haha

Honestly I can’t remember mate.

So if I did. Apologies

We have to be careful with Flanders - and rate his value on his performances across his career, not just 2024. Last year, a contract year, was out of the box, and is an outlier from the rest of his career.

I dont think he's worth a first round pick for us, even if we split it to get Ryan (Ryan has almost no trade value for me, if WC wanna play hardball he can go to the Bombers). Our mid stocks have completely turned around this season, especially if Windy resigns - there's gonna be a fair few looking to run through there next year who I'd have ahead of Flanders - guys like Hall, Boxshall, Pou, Windy, Henry, Tobie, Wilson etc, on top of the incumbents Steele, Macrae, Garcia & Nas. And Carroll, Dow and Clark for depth.

I'm a huge Flanders fan but Gold Coast are going to be absolutely pricks if he wants to come to us. They are not happy at all about our comments so wont make anything easy for us.
I always think this sort of thing is a little overblown.

Their list manager and overall team is hardly gonna blame us for the AFL changing a totally broken system IMO.

Theyve got a good player who is in contract but they also need picks, as it was and will forever be, a deal likely gets done if all parties want it.

This off season is giving strong vibes of the off season we got Hilly Doogs and Ryder.

Let’s hope for a better outcome.
A little bit yeah

The difference is that we overpaid for those guys

This year. TDK is coming for free and none of the others except maybe Flanders will cost a first rounder

The admin nowadays is so much more competent than the Lethlean era

Flanders has dropped off a cliff this year , not sure where he has being played but stats wise its pretty average compared to last year
