Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.

If anything we might grab another Boyd type in the PSD as back up back up.

Very very few teams retain two established and well paid rucks. 1 starter, 1 developing and 1 backup is usually the list profile, weve just got 2 developing.

If anything id wager wed keep Heath on **** all money over keeping Roma but it also depends what Marshall wants and what gets offered for him.

Obviously there are no certainties, but I don't know how anyone can watch Hugo and have any concerns. He is fast, he has 360 degree awareness, he is composed and unrushed in possession, and criticism of his kicking is way overstated. He also has the drive and hunger you need to be great. In fact, he has shown more in his 26 games (many of which as a sub) than many of our young midfielders have shown in 75 games.

That goal he kicked from a centre bounce when he burst away and kicked it from outside 50 was seriously impressive. Didn't know he had that in him.

Geelong- How could you not miss finals, playing at a ground you hardly lose at.

Need to replace that stadium with another stadium that has more equal dimensions to other playing fields.

Its such an oddball thing, Longer than the G, hardly wider than a soccer pitch, and flat down one side.

Don’t reckon it is generous. If we had a 3rd year player drafted at 7, who had played a heap of games in his first two years, finally cracked the midfield with 30 possessions in his third and then got injured. Would we be happy with a pick in the 15-20 range? I’m not sure we would.

Very ordinary so far averages 15 at afl and isn’t dominant at vfl level.

He’s definitely lost some value, pick 7 would be crazy imo. Maybe the Marshall pick or we might intend to split 7.

Taylor, Robey and St Kilda NGA product Kye Fincher could all be added to the national combine list as a result of club feedback to the AFL this week. Fincher (185cm), who represented Vic Metro at the national champs, has had a strong season for the Sandringham Dragons, amassing at least 18 disposals in all his Coates Talent League matches.

Agree with all of this but the value part.

He ain’t going unless Essendon can sell this as a win.

2 firsts is where this starts at.

We’ll see, the moment they start talking about what he’s worth he’s gone.

Players talking, no B&F, age, contract size etc none of those point to a Massive haul which two first rounders under 10 would be plus some tinkering.

Who knows maybe hawks will believe he’s the missing piece, if we’re involved we need to take full advantage.

Much as I'd like Cam Mckenzie, I don't really want us facilitating a trade that allows hawthorn to get stronger. We're gonna have a lot of pressure to make finals next year and don't need the teams we want to beat getting more reinforcement.

Garcia is slightly ahead of Zac Butters at the same age. He's only played for 2 seasons. He's on track to be a very good player IMO.

My biggest issue is his absolute lack of an opposite foot. His left is good, but not elite, so thats where he comes unstuck or at least will when he starts getting more attention.

Retain him, remove the captaincy and let him enjoy playing at Essendon VFL

I keep teaching my kids he'll be one of hundreds who can kick with his preferred but the ones who stand out are the dual sided ones. I feel like thats actually not true but I'll keep saying it to him.

Going to training and watching drills with professional sports players getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars not being able to kick with their opposite is both hilarious and disastrous all in one.

Players have made an art form out of a dinky sideways kick with their preferred instead of using their opposite. If Hugo can at least improve on that then I'll have more confidence.

100% this. There is no way that dumpster fire of a club can come back from this. Can't have 'senior players' potting each other in public. Past players with popcorn emojis. Second year in a row that your captain wants out. Draper gone and Ridley wants to walk.

Zach is about to win his 6th B&F in a canter, despite copping all of the heat every week.

Time for them to properly blow it up before Tassie comes in, even if that means spreading first rounders over the next 2 years.

That is certainly one way of looking at Cmac's 2025.

You could also say that he clearly isn't rated by Sam Mitchell.

Played in the VFL for a large part of the season including the current finals.

Wasn't selected for a large portion of Will Day's absence and even when James Worpel was injured and sub.

Has had players such as Henry Hustwaite, Sam Butler, Seamus Mitchell and Finn Maginness all preferred to him when he was fit.

The club is actively looking to bring in more players in his position while he is already being treated as a fringe player.

The way Hawthorn have dealt with him this year, his value is probably less than first round pick.

But it will require one to prise him out of contract and for his 'potential'.

Fair. Would have been a similar story to Pou last year though (until he got back in the side). But can see your point.

In hindsight, its lowkey hilarious that the captain of the club was making such statements before the season started. Even funnier after the season they ended up having. Wonder how his ego will go at a club like hawthorn, who very much have the opposite philosophy to this

We are - this was reported weeks ago that St Kilda and Hawthorn were interested - but he believes in Hawthorn's prospect of success more

If he’s already met with the hawks and semi comitted I can’t see any benefit to use trying to become involved.
