2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th

Blokes who've voluntarily paid money to watch Justin Plapp coached by Tim Watson declare something unwatchable.

Thankfully I went on a 3 year overseas trip before the start of the 1999 season so I missed us being coached by Tim Watson.

Our games then were literally unwatchable for me, there was no option to stream games, I just saw the scores at internet cafes.

I missed the brief Macolm Blight coaching era too, by the time I returned to Australia in 2002 we were coached by Grant Thomas.

I don't mind it. I watch it for what it is when I do.
yeah but when you compare it to the riveting drama and quality of the Trade Thread it just comes off 2nd best. And some just love that for their sporting fix dont they? 🙄

'Experts' are worried how the 19th team will affect the depth of the AFL.

Yet we are quite happy to have 18 AFLW teams where you're lucky to have 1 to 2 decent players in the squad. Good on them for getting a gig and for the supporters who genuinely care, but don't force it upon everyone else.
I feel that AFLW needs to be cheap and really focus on local grounds.

Give me a snag in one hand a tinnie in the other

Merrett is absolute poison so I hope our alleged role in all this is for shenanigans at most.

I agree the AFLW expanded far too quickly but I imagine the comp is using it as much for the women’s game/participation as it is for drawing more interest into the sport overall, and every club having a W side was a big part of that. My niece is coming through the CTL ranks and trust me, the talent is growing at least.

Anyway. **** Merrett

Quietly, who ticked off the Suns wearing their Pink jumper? Not saying it’s a clash, but is difficult viewing in my opinion.
I'm usually arguing against people declaring a clash, but this doesn't look right. From a distance on the TV, looks pretty similar to the Brisbane kit. The dark shorts don't help much.

I am in admiration at the elite level planning ahead displayed by you.......the trauma you managed to avoid!

Seems the Father-Sons are going to beat the Nepo-Suns.... Flanders may not be getting good numbers but I'm really really enjoying his game.

I've watched us running through drills far too much this year, I've got to say Flanders plays exactly the way Ross wants us to play. He is the ultimate Ross Lyon St Kilda prototype player. Get. Him. Pick. 7. Gone!

Mate it is garbage. And that is from someone who watches my niece live whenever I can.
She just played her 50th game and we are out for dinner. Came up to Canberra to watch so I am not just an AFLW hater.

On another note, Fincher was in the best 2 or 3 on the ground today, had 23 & kicked a couple.
He’s working into first round territory now, which obviously means he’ll cost us more.
I also read somewhere he’s now going to be invited to the national combine instead of the state combine.
We need to find ourselves some picks from somewhere!!
Excellent effort given he was at Revolver with JUH until 4am. Shows he has staying power and resilience.

There's no way we can give up pick 7 for Flanders. Don't get me wrong I would love to get him but he's not worth such a high pick given his output this year.
Watching tonight? I'd suggest he's absolutely worth pick 7 considering he is contracted and this year's draft is just one big question mark.
