Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period: Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

Dwayne sums it up well, he is holidaying in Barcelona now worrying about whether he gets paid $800k or $600k. First world problems.

Most of us will need to work 8-10 years to earn what he would earn in a year.

I’d be content to move on a 30 year old Marshall and a 30 year old Steele and significant salary for McKenzie and change.

Mega trade something like this:

Geelong trade their 2025 first and 2026 second for Marshall

Hawks trade CMac, their 2026 first and Geelong’s 2025 first for Merrett

Saints trade Marshall and Steele for CMac and Geelong’s 2026 second

Ess trade Merrett for Geelong’s 2025 first, Hawks 2026 first and Steele

Ess the big winners but I feel they need to be to make this deal happen as they have the most to lose. We could possibly receive something back from Ess such as a 2/3rd round pick.

Essendon would laugh at their end of that deal.

Could be two picks in the 20s for Merret (Steele isn't even worth mentioning his value is so low).

No one has discussed Roma as a player here. it is assumed. maybe it is a fair assumption, that he hasn't fallen away. The new 30 maybe the old 27 now? And playing into your mid-30s is now a possibility? If the back doesn't play up?

Ok let’s make it a 4 way deal:

Essendon get: pick 9 Geelong 1st 2026 Lewis and Steele

Lose: Merrett F2 2026

Hawks Get: Merrett

Lose: Cmac pick 8 Mitch Lewis

Geelong Get: Marshall + ess F2 2026

Lose: first rounder 2025 & 2026

Saints get: Cmac & 2025 Geelong first

Lose: Marshall and Steele

Why do that. Makes no sense. Still end up with marshall for Geelong first and I don't rate Cmac enough.

Because I’ve turned an F2 into another first rounder. Retained our own in 2026 and brought in Cmac for Marshall effectively based on the original trade

Yeah, if it was say Hustwaite instead of Scrimshaw/Lewis I could maybe see it, but that's a huge cost for a 30 yr old Merrett. Would be the equivalent of us giving up say our 2026 first, Travalia, and Sharman. Great deal for Essendon and St Kilda though. Cam Mackenzie for what would probably be a 10ish pick slide and Jack Steele.

Maybe. A first, CMac and Hustwaite is already quite a price. Essentially 2 firsts and a fringe player, if you rate CMac around pick 15 (which I would but I get of others wouldn't.) A first , CMac and Lewis feels closer to 3 firsts

My preference is to move him on for a good deal, but no problem with him staying at all, he's been a good focal point for us when he's gone forward, good balance for all the young blokes, plus leaves Geelong poorer
