2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th

Butters is a 25 year old
3x b&f winner
2x AA
1x AFLCA winner

You are correct, there is no comparison.
You dont know what Pou could be
By five years time, he might not have that, but if he is contributing well in a successful team, that's enough. Could even be captain by the time he is 25 y.o
And he's shown no signs of being homesick either.

Got a long, long, long, long, long way to go to get to Butters level
No kidding
He’s 19.
And had a terrible year with injuries.
But by all means let’s use him as steak knives in a trade 🙄🤣

Why are we discussing Butters there is no way they let him walk...

In a few days it'll be Daicos

Fair enough, but they wont be delisting someone that they signed to a 5 year contract last year.

He's a good example of two things, us rating our own much higher than we should and two, not really noticing gun Vic kids outside of Victoria.

Cox will drop the ball on him, in fact all 3 Swans boys would walk into our team tomorrow.

Anyway, they won't be in Saints colours I just rate them that's all.

I think Florent is good but who does he replace in our 22?

He's not pushing out Naz, Sinc, Hill or Flanders as a wing/half back.

Can he play well enough as a stopper to take JWeb's spot? Has he ever shown anything as an onballer?

I just don't see it so I wouldn't be paying what the Swans would ask.

Update on my return to cricket.
2 of the best runs you’ll see in 5th cricket (an edge through slips)
2 decent overs with ball in hand & one that bought back to earth with a thud (0/9 off 3)
But waiting for it.
Two screamers the field to dismiss their best batsman. Ya boy maximus delivering on the big stage of a district Ballarat ground..

Oh and my should try to pop out after a 20m throw to the keeper

No one asked for this update but you all needed it

People love Pou because of his size, but he might just end up too slow as a kid and not big enough to be a forward.

That’s a very real possibility.

Butters is a top 10 player in the comp
Sub 3 second 20m sprint vs Scott Pendlebury's 3.01, Marcus Bontempelli's 3.2 and Patrick Cripps' 3.23.

Preseason last year, he was usually only a step behind Wilson in the repeat sprints. He's not slow, he just needed to work on his timing and when to hit the contest etc, but his pace for his size is above average.

Of all players we have not named Nasiah, I'm still absolutely bullish about Pou.

The hypotheticals go both ways.

Imagine if the Tigers came to us at the end of 2016 and said "We think we are a couple of years off, mini rebuild time. We will give you Dusty for Billings & your first pick."

We would have probably laughed it off.

I'm certainly backing Pou in to get his body right, learn the midfield game, and help Naz carry the Saints back into finals BUUUUT...

You'd be foolish to turn Zak Butters down on the basis of keeping Pou at the club.

A Jezza Cameron style deal - Pou + 2x 1sts for Butters + 2x 2nds - would be a big win for us.

It's not happening, but it would be a win.

Anyone else find it interesting that…

Battle (left)
Marshall (wanting to leave)
Steele (has been asked to leave)
Wilson (yet to re-sign and rumours he may want out)

Along with Howard (previously shopped)

Are all managed by the same management group.

Of which the only client who seems happy with us is Wood and we haven’t been linked to a single Hemisphere client in return.

🤔

Rumours Wilson wants out…? Would really hope we could keep him!! He’s the absolute cream on top type of player. Is he on his last year contract wise?
