2025 List Management Discussion - Part 5

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Correct me if I’m wrong but pretty sure that leaves us with 3 spots on the senior list?

Wouldn’t be surprised if that’s Fincher plus elevating Hammer & Hall.
Which leaves us 4 rookie spots.

(And sorry if something like this has already been posted)
You have to ask that Significant bloke

I thought he came across as incredibly unprofessional. Have your grievances but deal with it behind closed doors.
Could say the same about a few managers. Embarrassing the way they handled themselves.

Tom Prestoro looked like a toddler the way he was carrying on in the Hawks room.

AFL should give them a kick in the arse.

Ross' full press conference is on Trading Day - basically said we need to balance the human side with the organisational objectives re: Steele and Marshall

He danced around Leek Aleer and said he was glad GWS rated him as highly as we did by re-contracting him for 2 more years :tearsofjoy:

Very complimentary of Geelong and Mackie, but said they came to renegotiate "late, very late"

Reckon we will have Flanders in that a grade bracket early in he season as long as he is fit

Windy could easily be in it too. Nas over shadowed him but Windy was the next most improved youth player. King if fit almost certain to be A grade too. So many kids have a huge amount of growth left in them.

It should be a much better and more rounded side we put up most weeks next year and we have finally put up a decent pool of high end talent.

Elite- *Nas and I'm calling *Hall to get there.

A grade- Sinclair, Marshall, Macrae, Wilkie

B- *Flanders, *Windy, *Owens, Hill, Wood, Higgins, *King, Sharman, *Phillipou, Ryan, JSOS, *Wilson etc.

Depth- *Dow, Stocker, Clark, *Henry, *Caminiti, Howard, Carroll etc.

Youth- *Tauru, *Travaglia, *Garcia, *Boxshall, *Dodson, *Collard, *Keeler, *Hastie, *Collard, *LOC etc.

Players with an * have potential to substantially improve.
I like our midfield going forward

TDK - Nas - Flanders - Hall
Macrae/Windy/Box/Garcia

And best young group for 15 years

Bit flat with this.
Overstocked with quality Rucks and it would have been shrewd list management to offload Marshall and re-enter the Draft.

On the other hand, stuff the Cats who came for a contracted player and went limp at the trade table.

We are a better team with Marshall in it.
Hope we can get back into Round 1 of the Draft.

Yep that was an epic tantrum. And Leeks manager going publicly nuclear was next level. RTB gave him and the media a subtle clip in his interview.

Steele’s last 11 games (including 1 sub appearance)

19.18 disposals
9.45 tackles (wow)
0.72 rebound 50s
3 inside 50s
4.45 clearances
0.18 goals per game

Outside of the tackles. His second half of the year had him as a real liability.

Steele gave us great service and wish him well.

This move is best for both parties. We need new blood in our midfield and it has been a number of years since Steele has performed at an A Grade level despite being paid like one.

This will help with retaining or courting players over the next two years.

Bring on the midfield mix of McRae, Flanders, TDK, Pou, Hall, NAS, Boxshall, Windy and Garcia.

Bats deep and has plenty of high end.

I reckon we will shock a few oppositions next year. Flanders is a very good player. I reckon there is a chance some very good players are playing at Sandy.

Zones on 2/10 **** all money and a clear 2s player.

Steele on more coin and has a rep for playing seniors when RTB clearly has him in the ressies going forward.

Good move for all parties IMO and helps our rep as a fair club to deal with.
Still reckon we can delist Jones and have Carroll and Dow as depth.

Loved Ross "18 other coaches need to come through for an interview...oh wait" haha

In my own head he was clipping Mitchell for selling his club then f'ing off overseas and not getting it done.

In reality he was "oh crap I'm the only coach here because I'm an autocrat"* 🤣

* truth is in the important middle

David King on fox just spoke about our injuries this year, 3rd worst this year with a 134 games

We need King and Pou to play 20 plus games

Agree we can jump and surprise a few next year
