While great news, I was hoping for something longer than a 1 year extension as he was going to be with us 2026 anyways, and this is only until 2027. The fact that it's so short when we have usually locked our younger players for a much longer time tells me there's a chance he could leave in the future. Or maybe he's betting on himself again (like he did this season) so he took a short contract so he can back himself and get a lot more money when the next contract discussions are up.

I'm fairly sure Logan was out of contract at the end of this season. I think draftees outside of the first round only get signed to a 2 year deal.

Yep, but his third year salary was fixed wherever he went so why go anywhere when you can stay here and play finals ? ;) :)

Grasshopper17 is correct.

Think it was Twomey talking about it rather than Morris, but a few people on here treat a journalist reporting something obvious (other teams are interested in Logan) as a hostile attack.
If you are referring to my comments, I believe I am fair in my critisisms and only make comments on journo's claims. Twomey was just 1 who talked about Loges. Morris was certainly another. I do appreciate they need to make theirselves relevant in the industry they work in. I just wish they did it with a little more integrity rather than creating unnecessary drama for players & players families with no accountability.

I don't disagree with that part, but this is the reality of the business now. Sadly, trade and free agency stuff gets clicks - we all have an insatiable appetite for it.

There are broad structural issues with coverage of football media and the obsession with trade and FA, but I don't think any of the reporting on Logan was out of the ordinary. The coverage of Harley Reid on the other hand...

Being reality doesn't make it acceptable or OK.

We will have to fight like hell to keep Morris moving forward but gee it is good to keep him for 2 more years. The kid is a star.
Who knows where he's at in 2 years time but at least we should know by then what it's going to cost us to keep him if he wants to stay.

And all going well hopefully he'll see his future here.

Playing alongside Ty Gallop and Eric Hipwood as the best tall forward combo in the AFL... starting on the assault to finish off a 4Peat.

Morris can now focus on filling out, growing his skills and get to a 40+ goal season in the next 2 years. That outcome will be good for him either way whether he stays or goes.

If he falls in love with club in the meantime and wants to sign on long term, that's a win for our coaching + club administration.

No better place for him to develop his skills and reputation (and his ultimate pay packet) than in a well-functioning premiership team where he gets A-grade service and is in need, where he's not the #1 forward.

Going to Melbourne would be a disaster of a move currently, but I imagine in a couple of years he'll be chased by Collingwood, Carlton, Hawthorn... or he can stay with Brisbane who will be challenging regardless well into his mid-career and beyond.
