Put a line well and truly through JUHView attachment 2301181

this guy is reaching Dayle Garlett, Sydney Stack and Tarryn Thomas levels of zero ****s given

what a waste of talent

no doubt he was under the influence when he made that decision

Feel free to call me out if I am off the mark as I haven't done an in depth comparison on early vision but Nas just gives me very strong Bont vibes.
For me, Bont is more your carry your team on your back, grunt, brute with class.

If I was to find a comparison, it would probably be Hayden Young. Nas to me, is more silky and smooth, similar to Dal but quicker and taller. But yes, Hayden Young vibes for me.

He kind of gives me Burgoyne vibes

If Tom****witMoris was so sure about Nas leaving. If he had proper intel on the situation. We would have seen 10 tweets, headlines on whatever shows he is hosting and I think multiple journos would have reported it by now.

he’s a certified bullshitter, he does get some occasionally right sometimes though by luck

It's a free hit for him because everyone knows NAS is from SA and has strong family ties. It's lazy, "technically the truth" journalism. I wish there were more Ryan Daniels working in the AFL media, he only goes with something when he knows he's right and he has great relationships with both WA clubs.

Looking at it in isolation, Butters is the exact type of player and character we are crying out for. He’s a competitor in every sense of the word and if we reflect on our last 3 performances the lack of midfield resistance has been on display for all to see.
Not only is he a top 10 midfielder in the comp, he’s a campaigner and he hates losing. He will challenge any group to be better and leaves it out there every week.

100%. I saw a post that said trading Butters for Nas is like trading Buddy for Ben Brown. That's an absurd comparison. Butters is tough, relentless, dynamic and has composure and vision that that few other players have. Port are a completely different side with him in and you very rarely see one player make that much of a difference. He's 2xAA and AFLCA player of the year and is only 24. We don't have a midfielder that's anywhere near his talent at the moment.

the thing about nas is he has the most confidence ive seen in a saints player for a looong time. He's like a 190cm half back flanker version of stephen milne. Especially when he decides to take it upon himself to make something happen, doesn't always pay off, but he really just says f it lets go, as opposed to someone like sinclair who is much more measured and clinical in his approach while still being extremely damaging

Yes fair play not since BJ.

So

Nas for Butters straight swap

OR

Pick 6 (currently) + 2 x Future 1st for Butters if we retain Nas. Giving 3 first rounders including a top 10 pick for Butters seems unlikely.

Not sure either deal really satisfies but at-least we won’t be going backwards if we lost Nas and fixing a hole on our list in midfield.

So far Nas has been very durable, can’t say the same about Butters injury record also 2-3 years older. Imagine the progress Nas could make in the next 2-3 years.

Also the biggest issue here is if Butters actually wants to play for St Kilda, otherwise he will just wait until next year and leave to the dogs via FA
if we can wedge bergman into that deal i like it,3 first round picks in the next 3 years aint the same as 3 other years

also you said a mouthfull right there,if its the dogs then that has to give us enthusiasm, whats the difference?its not like they get the big games or anything & their window has to be pretty thin, bont and libba both regulars at the over 28s,along with treloar kennedy, they also take up plenty on the salary cap, along with naughtons huge deal, english i guess and darcy very soon

if the dogs are our biggest hurdle, thats a positive

Butters has had some Bont-like games I’d say he’s not far off. If we could get him for 2 firsts and change (while retaining Nas) you’d take that all day. If Nas wants to go and we get Butters back the other way then I can live with that, we have depth at half back.

I rate Butters as much as anyone but he isn't the same type as Bont. He's an absolute A grader having an incredible year but those champion types sit in a very small group. Bont is a generational talent. So far Butters will still be a star but he's more in the high accumulation and consistency zone than the break the game open types. They usually win Brownlows over the freak talents. Not giving him a kick.

I'd definitely trade 2 firsts for him as long as we keep Nas. We surprisingly have very little ready to go off HB. Sincs is at the end and then you really drop back to Hastie and Ari types.

Butters would be a brilliant addition, but under no circumstances can we afford to lose Nas. I would rather trade Max King in a swap than Nas he is so important to the team.

St Kilda president Bassat, multimillionaire supporter Solomon, list strategist Graeme “Gubby” Allen and player manager Paul Connors sit in the middle of the restaurant, sharing a $240 bottle of Burgundy.

So, what’s on the agenda at the Mt Erica Hotel, other than expensive wine and scotch fillets?

“Definitely not business!” laughs Bassat, who turns white at the sight of a journalist appearing at the table.

It just so happens that Connors looks after out-of-contract Carlton star Tom De Koning, who is being heavily courted by the Saints.

😂 😂

The one thing that really pisses me off about that article is that I didn't get an invite to the cruise. Surely being a member for 137 years counts for something.

Butters is really the only way I could deal with losing Nas. I absolutely don't want to, but if we're getting a gun mid back I'll at least not want to microwave my membership.

As good as he is I'm not sure I'd go all in on him trading 2 or 3 first rounders. I have no doubt he would instantly improve our midfield significantly, but we need to keep thinking about longevity and constantly adding young talent to our list. We want to stay stacked for a long time, not try top up and fail miserably like usual.

If we can trade 1 or 2 players to acquire another first rounder then that's another thing all together.

🤣Carlton supporters might be a bit nervy reading that.

Only the list managers know how much we have already got in place. Good list managers will know who is going to make it or at least all things being equal should.

At some point you need to stop adding kids and start honing the list, not building. I think Butters would be an incredible addition. With the players under 26 across each line you should be able to see the bulk of a future best 22 with that in place.

Backs- Hammer, Nas, Stocker, Byrnes, Hastie, Ari, LOC, Barrat, Travaglia, Tauru, McLennan, Armstrong.
Light on for tall backs, okay for attacking defenders, hard to tell on the small and medium accountable types.

Mids- Clark, Dow, Henry, Carroll, Windhager, Said, Boxshall, Wilson, Phillipou, Garcia, Nas.
Bit of a mixed bag of talent. Some absolute elite potential but plenty of guys that could go either way.

Rucks- Heath, Keeler, Dodson.
Light on for quality but Dodson particularly looks a worthy project.

Forwards- Higgins, King, Sharman, Henry, Hall, Owens, Hammer, Keeler, Collard, Said, Tauru.
Plenty of talent and sizes. Probably another tall forward option in case King doesn't get over his injuries would be handy. Another developing pressure small as well.

I disagree.
I think its just a matter of refinement.

You get to the end of the year and you need to delist someone.
If you are building you might retire someone like Jimmy Webster, even though he's still good to go.
So last year we delisted Tim Membrey. If we thought we were really firmly in the window we might have kept him and delisted someone like Moose.
If you think the list is fairly complete, you can look at more prospective picks ( high potential ).

Look back at last time we were challenging, we got nothing for Luke Ball on principle.
We took the piss out of the draft with Winmar.

When the Hawks were winning premierships they drafted Ryan Burton the pick after Gresham. They later used him to facilitate the Wingard trade.
Even though they traded away their early picks the following year, they still drafted Morrison and Lewis late in the draft.

if we somehow manage to keep nas and get butters tdk and even berg you know they're sacrificing something back there because it would be all sorts of sorcery and witchcraft to pull that off

look if nas wants to go and we somhow turn it into butters and a little more then well thats what it is, but im hearing butters isnt interested in the saints

Was told this a couple weeks ago but didn't want to report something I was not 100% on but someone with port connections gave me some Goss that saints and port have an agreement that we have a "handshake" agreement with port. Nas for Butters.
I will bet any of you 1 billion dollars this doesn't happen.
