Were mid table anyway, cant see the point in persisting with Doogs when Camma might get beaten more often but has way more upside (IMO at least).

If ****ing King ever plays and we can afford to just let Camma play back just do that.

So at present we need at least another Key Back if you got your wish to get rid of Howard. And that's with Hammer going back as well. On top we need at least another Key Forward. I'm not confident in Kings body holding up. I don't know how anyone could to be honest. And that's all before we start on the mids.

198cm 23 years... looked like he had some nice forward craft & took a few good marks in dewy conditions on Saturday night.

Has kicked at least 2 goals in each of his last 21 VFL games.

18 goals in his first 5 games this year - 4, 4, 3, 3 and 4 on Saturday night.

Haha so still not top end cream of the crop mid. So if we don’t draft them and they don’t want to come to our club then we have to hope Miles ‘Dangerfield’ Bergman single-handedly can match it with midfields like

Neale, Dunkley, McCluggage, Ashcroftx 2,

Horne Francis, Butters, Rozee,

Rowell, Anderson, Miller

Even Richmond have a better midfield than us, Taranto, Hopper and Lalor

Didn't see any footy this weekend but re: Bergman if Joey says it has merit - then it has merit. He makes us a better team regardless of the position he plays imo, all comes down to cost.

Keen to hear alternative midfield targets.

Its not even really about that. If Bergman costs a first and a mil a year its sunk money and picks. Hes not a midfielder. May as well target some fringe actual midfielder. The whole "worst case hes a handy mid sized defender" is actually a ****ing disaster if we trade a first and burn cap space on ANOTHER flanker.

Do you mean Aleer? If so, sure, but thats a vastly different proposition to what is currently expected cost for Bergman.

The only difference being there is a way to reduce the national debt.

Even if you finish last the best mid might end up going somewhere else, and we're not about to finish last.

Every day that goes past, it looks more and more likely that the only way St Kilda can get an elite mid is having them fall into our lap with a later pick, a la Phillipou. And as of right now, Phillipou has played four good midfield games only.

The top end of the draft is picked apart because of academies and the father-son rule.

Our money isn't good enough.

I hope the club are trying to devise the best way to win a premiership without an elite mid to be completely honest.

King either has to start playing or we trade him.

Hammer, Wilkie, Aleer (Tauru and Barrat as developing or coverage)
King, Sharman and Owens (Tauru as coverage)

No team is holding more than that in depth and argurable no team has better potential (King and Wilkie in particular) in those positions.

Everyone screams about depth like teams have elite talls just playing in the twos. Its fallacy.

I doubt he’d cost a mill, however could be wrong. I am sure we are targeting any and all available/potentially available mids - of course we are.

Probably highly unlikely, but imagine an off season where we are able to get TDK, Bergman and Aleer in without losing NWM or Marshall.

Would undoubtably propel us up the ladder.

I’d make a play for Grusewski and Wardius from GWS. JSos. Donovan Toohey from the VFL. Then chase Aleer. Cheap but effective recruiting

To me, if we want mids then working our asses off and paying high on Bergman is a poor choice.

If we want to get another mid sized defender and hes not gonna cost us a bomb, sure.

Have you seen the footage of Wilson yelling out to Howard to take Harry and Howard refusing to do it ? And Wilson had do it, that’s rubbish from Howard

Agree 100 % with Battle, wilkies job is so much harder this year without Battle

Hopefully we grab a defender in the mid season draft someone like P McCartin’s brother

He’s technically worth a top 10 pick but that’s a massive amount for a building list to pay for him. It just doesn’t seem to make enough sense to go all in on it.
