I'd strongly argue that player development is a big part of it. Agree to disagree.
You've missed my point.

I'm not saying player development isn't a big issue.

I'm saying the alignment changes none of that. We choose the coaches and decide the game plan. We develop the players.

The issues Sandy have are just going to follow us because ultimately we are running the program.

Given the 72 point loss and today's Max King news, I'd say this would be a good week to announce Nas has re-signed...

But we St Kilda supporters don't get to have nice things. And I'm sure this week will be just as disasterous, as is the way with this club.

I can't remember feeling as deflated as a Saints fan since the end of Brett Ratten's tenure. Or the end of the Alan Richardson's tenure. Or the end of the Scott Watters' tenure. Or the day we learnt Ross was abandoning us for Fremnatle.

Basically, I've been deflated since the 2010 Grand Final replay and now I have to watch the two teams that beat us over 15 years ago make finals every year, win multiple premierships, appear in countless Grand Finals, pick up star players and Brownlow Medallists for peanuts etc.

How much more can St Kilda supporters take? No wonder 20 people showed up to the game on Thursday night.

Me me meeeee

Modern football eh?

Rofl so in other words we are so ****ing shit he's hoping we can be used as leverage now to get something better at Carlton.

Awesome work st kilda.

Maybe we should be chasing him.
The King situation is really concerning - for both him and us.

TDKs management working overtime to NOT play for St Kilda hahahaha gotta love it

This offseason is massive for our club - sliding doors time
IF we can keep NAS , land TDK and Bergman (future pick?) and keep our top 5 pick this year it sets us up enormously
IF none of the above occur….we are set back years
Time to do something Gubby ….SOS …it’s pay up time
Joey was superb on First Crack absolutely nailed it - supporters will come to games IF they see a future ….we won’t win every match and will cop the odd belting by mature sides but that’s ok as long as they see the silver lining ….
As Joey said - no more going back to old guys who aren’t taking us anywhere
Season is done play the kids
Boxhaul , Wilson, Tauru gotta get the games into them
I think Marshall IF TDK comes must be traded we need that pick to secure others …be lovely to keep him at 30 but reality is to make hay we have to pay …no FS happens here …
Kings injury was touted as a set back - he hasn’t lost a leg but just call it Monday he’s gone for year. Go get the Bulldogs doctor who sorted Darcy to examine him cause our work experience kid seems to have no clue (much like our tribunal QCs who always seem to lose …)
Things are bleak now but they can turn quick IF we can pull a few moves off this off season

King had his best year the year of 2022. Next big thing! Ross has only had him for 23 games in his 3 years at the club, 21 if you count the games he got injured in. It's sad, it's all it is. King's contract was justified, he was flying this pre season dominating match sim, looked like he was ready to dominate the comp physically. Fingers crossed it works out for him, as it all is just really sad.
That is absolute nonsense. King's contract was until 2026. We had plenty of time to resign him coming off 2 years of SFA output. His body is not holding up to AFL football.

What do we choose to do? Sign him until 2032, despite the fact we have plenty of time and he can't get on the park🤣

This one makes the Hannerbury deal look like prudent list management. We are reckless cowboys and deserve to suck.

I am not even mad any more. We are just a comedy show at this point. Why not sign Lyon until 2032 whilst we are at it. Lyon is getting surveymonkey results, we got to lock this down boys🤣

NAS should run for his life if he wants any success. Pou will be the next to flee. He will have no interest in staying at this clown show.

Nothing really new in that
TDK telling Carlton it’s a big difference …known that for weeks
Newsflash : most players want to stay at the club if all things are equal but they aren’t
He’s mentally challenged if he knocks back $5m
Cats into Marshall - I would only entertain that deal IF it’s a top pick. He may be 30 but he’s top 3-5 ruck in the comp. Pay up scumbags cause we need that pick

Funny thing with Darcy was Luke met some doctor at his spin class and recommended he take a look and the rest is history

Fck Me chicken little back in town!!
You sure you even follow the club? Check the scarf buddy I think you might be missing the red on it …

You actually sound like youre enjoying the news just so you can somehow say you were right
How odd.
All you can do is laugh at this point. We have officially reached peak stupid.

You would think after gifting a busted up Hanners 5 years when the entire league knew he had substance abuse issues, we might learn a lesson.

Nah, stuff that, instead lets give an already contractred bloke who is made of glass, a deal on 1m+ a year until 2032. I repeat 2032!

If I don't laugh I will get angry. Hopefully his calf has recovered🤣

So everything is going great guns with our Sandy alignment and there a no issues other than our own incompetence ?

You keep rocking up to games with the 3 empty seats where your kids used to be mate, personally I find that sad AF.

I will hang with mine at home. They go for Geelong anyway, because I didnt want to do it to them.

The best part is Grilld does half price burgers on Monday night if your team wins. Lucky the rest of the family go for a club that doesnt do moronic things and can actually football.

Grilld on Hampton Street on Mondays is a real vibe👍

It’s top 5 as it stands as Eagles will no doubt get pick 2 compo for Allan.
Eagles Duff Tytler
Eagles Duursma/Sharp
Richmond
Richmond
Us..................Absolutely plenty of midfield talent on the board for us here.

I am glad you said as it stands. I am not confident that our first pick would be that low, though yes I hope that it will be.

Looking at Squiggle Ladder Predictor they have us with 4 more wins. We actually have a batch of more winnable games coming up and so that could easily occur. Possibly even 5 more wins. Especially as other Clubs seemed less fussed than us in finishing lower when the end of the seasons beckons and they are out of the race.

Last year we finished the year strongly (admittedly who knows with our fluctuating form and effort what we will dish out in the remaining games), held the moral ground, but did ourselves out of the long lusted for quality mid. The winning habit and effort that that was meant to have created has come to naught this season.

The Tigers have set themselves up over 2 consecutive seasons to bring in a lot of high end draft talent.

THIS DRAFT

If Squiggle Ladder Predictor turns out to be the case, then that is pick 6 before any FA Compo, and Academy Matches (There could be upto 3 Academy Matched Bids in the first 6/7 picks).

We may well be in the same position this season come Draft Time of being just shy in the draft order of where we need to be to draft a quality mid. That is of course if we do not need our first pick as part of the Bergmen Deal should he nominate us.

So for the remainder of the year is it going to go for the moral high ground and take the "Win Every Game Possible" Approach again, or is it going to be a more subtle mix of playing more kids and sending more like King off for surgeries?

We are already not on a level playing field, but consciously working harder than some of the other cellar dwellers may just steepen that playing field yet again.

One thing is for sure, if we cannot get more real quality into our midfield our future is grim.
