Dodson looks the goods but need that body of work before I'd be confident throwing him into the regular AFL ruckman bucket.

He's had 5 out of 10 games over 17 disposals.

He’s played 24 of a possible 40 (I think) games in his first two years? Without knowing if he had any injury or suspension that’s a pretty bloody good return that wouldn’t suggest he’s not a “regular”

Remember the pass to Higgins against Collingwood on his opposite foot threaded between 5 pies defenders, no 200cm players can do that. Or kicking goals on the run from 60 metres. But he hasn’t done anything special? The likes of Max Heath is 2 years older and about 10kg heavier than Keeler. Once he puts on another 8kg and can win some one on ones he will be pretty special. Here’s the season averages of some of the comps youngest key forwards prior to the weekend-

Prior to his 1 possession stinker his averages matched that of Walter and Amiss, two top 10 draft picks. I’m over the amount of hate this kid gets just because get gets bodied occasionally. Not many of the above forwards are drawing the likes of Barrass and Harris Andrews either. We’ve set him up to fail by making him be the main focal point when he should have been eased in to take the 2nd or 3rd defender, a luxury most young KPF’s get. And his 1 game as a defender drew far better stats than any of tauru’s games so far but literally went unnoticed. I find it bizarre how many supporters generally dislike and don’t rate this kid.

Not bagging him at all. Original post was a comparison to marshall and the gap is wide. And yes, that game againsr melbourne? May paid him no respect and played off him so he has seven kicks for 3 goals in half the first qtr May tightens up he gets 1 kick a qtr after that. I said i rated him but he is miles away as a key forward. Great skills but needs a few preseasons in the gym plus develop a tank

Harsh on Acres. Hes had a good career since leaving St Kilda. One of thr few players to leave us and improve themselves

Agree with this it must involve 1 player that will have an impact straight away plus next years 1st rounder at the very least, I'd even go after an Ollie Lord as a key forward.

Disagree. He has played some really good games he just needs more time in the guts. Had some injury issue this year as well

Seems like a cross between Parish and Billings

Acres is the classic example of players with poor kicking who very rarely correct it during their time in the game. We have improved but we still recruit players with questionable skill sets in the hope they will improve. Look at Sydney, Collingwood, Geelong in the main they are elite kicking sides. Its hard enough to win the ball in todays game, let alone having players who cant hit a team mate by hand or foot.

As a side we wont be making any quantum leaps until we address our skill sets and ability to maintain possession. When you think about it if we have 5 players who have two clangers each per game thats 10 extra contested possession we have to win just to break even.

Agree with what a previous poster said, if Nas is going we need to be convincing Butters right now. Need to find some way to turn it into a win, their current picks are shit house.

If we win the games expected in our run home we probably finish 12th or 13th again which again will mean we miss the better midfielders.

Compared to last years draft when you exclude the academy players this years crop of top end players are not at an exceptional level.

McKenzie has been a slow burn midfielder at Hawthorn because he has so many players in front of him. He is probably not in the must have box, but ability wise he would be equivalent to anything we can expect at this years draft.

Tail end of the season and too many important contracts not done.

If we've offered unders to the likes of Windy, while throwing 1.7 at a ruckman, it will have an effect on the psyche of players. It's human nature to want to feel valued, particularly when you're giving 100% in a side that's losing most games.

The longer it goes on, the more the risk of losing players.

FFS just get it done.
