Jones put his hand up in a big way for senior selection, but not sure if Clark is really doing the same. I would like to see Hastie get a run on the ball rather than park him in the backline, as he has good foot skills and is physically a bit harder at the contest, which is what we are lacking at the moment.

so what can we expect from jones with this elevation?donuts in the first half?one very good quarter out of four?

i dont know about the rest of you,but ive just seen this story before

but i guess form for the zebras needs to be rewarded,it would send the wrong message otherwise, just excuse my yawning sunday afternoon when im watching bang ordinary, slow between the ears, maybe he can improve on that giants game, that would be something, when toby greene left him looking completely stupid with one of his goals,i believe in the 2nd quarter

Tom Morris saying Port Adelaide have offered Bergman a lucrative 7 year deal.

Good luck to the lad. But I hope we steer clear of matching that.

And Port have offered Butters an 8 year deal until the end of 2034.

Blimey. The world has gone mad.
Doesn't matter how many big the contract if he wants out

If there is not a level to which Jones can perform to win a spot back, then there is no selection integrity.
yeah get that, just gotta hope the same people who are responsible for the recruitment of naz wilson pou etc can realise he is not afl standard sooner than later, so such a selection decision doesnt need to be made next year, because ive already said what we are going to see from him sunday afternoon

lets hide him on fiorini,a bloke who struggles to get a game there, see how that turns out

heck help us if he runs with anderson miller or rowell, even a quick thinker like ainsworth would likely leave him for dead

I'm on the record that he's the ideal sub. But if you are going to just camp a bloke at Sandy no matter what he does, the coach at least needs to tell Jones that.

He has to be selected this week. Otherwise, what was the point of giving him a contract for this year.

He's been Sandy's best for multiple weeks and we have a senior mid go out. Not naming him would mean any claim about 'standards' for the coaches are completely hollow.

The Heath situation continues to astound me. Every week we are shown up as being too small up forward. Max Heath has played some good games this season but has yet to be rewarded with a senior game. He is the tallest player on our list at 204cm. We are crying out for height on our forward line, especially with king out, but Heath cant crack it for a game.

The herald sun reporters are saying we haven’t even made him an offer.

That we have an interest but at this stage nothing more than that.

Ryan Eyers from Werribee has interest from 1-2 AFL clubs for the MSD

198cm key defender, 22 years old

Good lockdown player with good marking ability

One to watch. Played against Sandy on the weekend

I think Sheehan listed him as one to draft a couple of years back.
You'd have to think he's at least a chance of being better than Zaine.

If we get past the bye and NWM still hasn’t signed, should we start to panic?

Not far away. When is the point of no return?

In my head, Port looking to secure these guys long term means they've been told Nas isnt coming.

I really hope the club is putting serious work into Butters as a contingency to Nas leaving.

I know we probably aren't his first choice, but a fat $1.5m+ contract can help that. It's the only way I think we could stomach the trade.

Remember he is only 2.5 years older than Nas, so is the right age through what we think is our window. I wouldn't trade for him unless we lose Nas.

Or it could be the complete opposite , Nas wont want to go to a club where the good players are leaving , seeing them sign up long term could be all he needs to say he is going back home

Trouble is Port have to fit them all into the salary cap. And that would be a problem if Port back up the truck to re-sign Bergman and Butters.

Listening to the latest Gettable podcast, the first item of discussion was Cal Twomey’s assessment of St Kilda’s rebuild strategy and where it was.

Twomey sounded optimistic despite the disappointment of last week. He said we are on the right path and we are on our way, but we have to stay the course. Don’t deviate. Keep drafting while continuing to pitch for quality players.

Twomey also said that if we miss out on our recruiting targets then we shouldn’t get disheartened. Keep trying but don’t lose focus on the draft. We are doing the right thing. I found his assessment to be reassuring.

On an unrelated note, Twomey was wondering why Ollie Dempsey hadn’t re-signed at that with Geelong’s pursuit of other players he might be Gettable with an offer “to good to refuse”. Such an offer wouldn’t necessarily be more than $900,000 pa (Twomey suggested the figure).

Twomey also suggested Geelong might be vulnerable to a raid and their reputation for being the hunter and holding off the predators might unnecessarily discourage potential bidders.

I know Dempsey isn’t a priority for us, we have other needs, but boy can he play. Whether it be on the wing or as a mobile marking forward. I wonder if Saints have at least considered an approach to him.

I don’t mind the idea. Ollie Dempsey offers something different to the stock standard running wings, and realistically would be a long term replacement for Wood as a taller, marking and goal scoring wing. It’d offer flexibility with Wilson too.

Dempsey is a gun. I would take in a heartbeat.
