I should have known.Frankie wanted to wait until he’s announced Captain Coach at the end of 2026, for his long term deal…
Manager probably makes an extra 100k if Charlie moves and his contract goes from 800k to 1.2-1.3M for the next 5 years.Or his manager is pulling the strings…trust me, follow my lead - I’ll let it rip.
As the club should have done!@ 6:28 BANG -
"as a senior player..I was hoping we were going to top up on talent and build on the prelim.. get some senior bodies to add - and we ended up getting Jagger Smith..."
It all boils down to where the Club decided to invest and the messages that gave the senior players regarding where the Club thought the playing list was at...
Some senior players ( including Docherty) wanted more senior players - the Club decided yeah naahhh.

Why? the clubs provide the contracts. Pretty much every good player in the comp will have this. Historically the Eagles and * (under Dodoro) had blanket rules about not including CBA changes, however that was also a few years back so the rate of change was lower compared to the last agreement. That mighty unfair for clubs. Specially middle-lower clubs paying 100% of the cap like us.
Pretty insane if you think about it.@ 6:28 BANG -

I stated my view ( now backed up by Russell and Docherty ) last year.Pretty insane if you think about it.
Above all it smells of senior players drinking their own bathwater AGAIN 'we would win it all if <insert excuse>' type thinking. We've been old enough for years that wasn't the issue....
I'm liking the Jagga decision way more now.
Doesn't explain the strong start to 2024 then sudden drop off in the GWS game after qtr time...
He was a senior player who, let's be honest here, didn't deserve the call up for the EF yet put his hand up to play anyway. He wasn't the reason we got belted, but he was def a liability out there.
Do I blame him for wanting to play? Big part of me thinks he should have put the team first, the other part of me understands from his perspective, he knew he didn't have many more chances and he went through so much during his career. Ultimately, I believe a senior player must always put the team first as hard as it is at times.
And I believe things like this, also contributed to tearing the squad mentality apart... although, he's not going to admit that publicly...
I agree but you know my hesitation is around Voss and being able to stop the same thing happening with the next iteration of the list.I stated my view ( now backed up by Russell and Docherty ) last year.
People can think it is all about Voss's "game plan" as much as they like- the uncomfortable truth is that the senior playing list at Carlton has never been up to making up for the weak tail end on field every week - and never will be.
The list has to be fixed one bit at a time - which is throwing out some players who don't want to be part of a 'rebuild/reset' - understandable, and trouble makers ( some of whom are fan favourites ) apparently worshipped because they are/were 'good people' or kick goals against bottom dwelling teams and fail miserably when it matters.
"Carlton FIrst" is a smart summary statement from Wright - meaning 'fit in or FOFF' - "we are looking to the future and investing in youth - because you lot have failed"
Yep teh Jagga decision was the proof in the pudding regarding teh CLub's thinking about the true situation of the list.
. If he’s as good as that Kouta fella keep the 1 year contracts rolling. So only 1 year for Frankie fella. Came good late so fair call I reckon.
Gives him a chance to continue his good form in 2026 and prove himself ... after all - consistency is key.
Kouta was the Master at coming good and putting on a show when his contract was up for renewal.
Doesn't seem like Motlop read Kout's Bio on the Art of a Contract.
Shoulda been kicking more Goals in the last few rounds woulda been the smart play.

At least we aren't Essendon.
As the club should have done!
With a lop sided salary cap, we were not in the position to be adding experienced players looking for a pay day. Maxing out the cap year in year out is ludicrous.
With the events so far this “off season” we will soon be in the position to chase some decent profile trades/free agents. We were not until recent events. I am loving the efforts of our recruiters who have acquired “boyhood Blues” of late. Even our new Head of Football is a boyhood Blue. I have to think this is a strategy to uograde the “culture” and commitment. The players we have acquired have been “budget beauties”.
Absolutely.I agree Coona - but the whole process can be expedited if people realise the true 'situation' of teh list and what it can reasonably be expected to achieve - experienced 'losers' have to go.

I'm certainly not with 'players' - (IMO) it has to be about the Club or it is about nothing.i'm with the club on this one, senior players had peaked imo
Think it was Vosso move from the WCE that * was applying the same non-increases in their salaries. Why? the clubs provide the contracts. Pretty much every good player in the comp will have this. Everyone pays 95-100% (or 105% after banking) so that doesn't really make a difference.
Hope it’s on minimum chips for 1yr, or a potential trade. What’s the update with Motlop? Haven’t heard a thing about him.
Scratch Fritsch, we are moving conditional players on.I’d think we’d fill some depth needs with.
