Yeah but Margaret River is about 300 K's from Perth, and their 'local' beaches are no better than the Peninsula's back beaches. If it's surf then it's Goldie, Sydney, Surf Coast in that order. From an old time surferIf Charlie wants out why wouldn’t we speak to West Coast, pick 2 is a good starting point. Why are we in the business of making teams stronger?
Some nice surf beaches in WA mate.
AFL have been slowly copying the NFL model, longer contracts, free agency, draft, future pick trading, only a a matter of time before choice is off the table.Because the AFLPA took all the benefits of free agency but kept the players ability to veto any trade
Personally I wouldn’t let Charlie go for any of those dealsComing in peace,
Just given that the club has said Walter and Read aren't going to be in discussion (im aware this can change but hypothetically lets pretend the club is telling the truth), were you to move Curnow, as supporters would Flanders + 6 be of interest?
or Petracca and 12?
Flanders + Davies + 12?
Rogers + 6?
Davies + 6 + F1?
this isn't a hypothetical 'what would the club accept', but more of a 'as supporters, what would you be okay with getting in return' type question

We don't have a need for more players without pace or much skill. Furthermore this years draft is poor so 2025 picks are of little value outside your club which needs to hold onto them to match bids.Coming in peace,

My position would be we want two of these on the tableComing in peace,

Watch our blokes and some games where draft prospects have a run. Nothing to report mate.Hey Coona Blues - I know you watch more VFL than I do.
how far off the mark is Lloyd Johnston? Was looking promising last year and couldn't crack their side this year.
Not sure about that because in the US sports the teams are much stronger v the players. Eg they've been known to enforce lockouts etc.AFL have been slowly copying the NFL model, longer contracts, free agency, draft, future pick trading, only a a matter of time before choice is off the table.
Trigg Point and Cottesloe beach are nice locations though.Yeah but Margaret River is about 300 K's from Perth, and their 'local' beaches are no better than the Peninsula's back beaches. If it's surf then it's Goldie, Sydney, Surf Coast in that order. From an old time surfer
I’ve actually noticed of all people Eddie Maguire speaking up about this a bit more lately. Thinks if you sign a 5 plus year contract and want out the club should have rights to send you to the club with the best offer trade wise.Because the AFLPA took all the benefits of free agency but kept the players ability to veto any trade
Without strong clubs there is no AFL, tail doesn’t wag the dog. Just lost two players in free agency and another wants out under contract, my thoughts he goes where it suits us.Not sure about that because in the US sports the teams are much stronger v the players. Eg they've been known to enforce lockouts etc.
Here the clubs have little power and are reliant on the AFL to negotiate for them.
Yes I think most people assume it would be used for contracted players who want to stay. But if it only applies for those who request a trade then it's reasonable. Probably also only applicable for top x% of contracts too.I’ve actually noticed of all people Eddie Maguire speaking up about this a bit more lately. Thinks if you sign a 5 plus year contract and want out the club should have rights to send you to the club with the best offer trade wise.
Granted but that aint a surf beach when you've got the Northern Beaches (Maroubra) in Sydney, Kirra at Burliegh or even Johanna on the coastTrigg Point and Cottesloe beach are nice locations though.

yep, Perth breaks are embarrassing...Yeah but Margaret River is about 300 K's from Perth, and their 'local' beaches are no better than the Peninsula's back beaches. If it's surf then it's Goldie, Sydney, Surf Coast in that order. From an old time surfer

Nope.I've asked this and got shouted down.
I still reckon if Charlie had a choice of wce or stay with us he would go.
Also reckon we could put their picks to good use.
Charlie needs to play down back and earn some money, he's good enough and that tightens things up a bit.I've asked this and got shouted down.

If he'd rather stay then that's good to know for any other dealing because if we don't get a good enough offer he can stay then too.Nope.
From my understanding he has never had any off field concerns, was simply immature and ADHD type behaviour at Collingwood rubbed a few Collingwood players the wrong way… and at North was paid highly in such a poor side didn’t handle the pressure and eventually sucked all enjoyment of the game out of him.. if he comes to us he won’t be coming with any expectation, he will know it’s his last chance and he either puts in the work or he is back playing Div 3 EFL. In his time at Fertree Gully he took a leadership role so perhaps has matured and sees the game differently. IMO I would rather chuck Jaidyn a lifeline that pluck someone untried out of the VFL.We aren't Geelong.
We couldn't manage Stocker, or seemingly Hollands.
Or Yarran, or Garlett and Robinson.
I think we stay in our lane here.
I appreciate the well reasoned response...but we've just shown zero capacity to rehabilitate a player of this type.
