Hi Blues fans, Saints fan coming in peace. Wondering what the go is with Binns? Is he worth another shot?
kills it at VFL level but hasn't made the jump to AFL, has all the tools apart from a damaging kick. Could be an Ed Langdon type or could fade away.

We now have a heap of potential flank/wing types so he's been pushed way back down the pecking order and off the list.

Won’t lie watching the Carlton videos with the new players. It’s quite exciting and after having time to assess after the trade period, I now think we made the right decisions.

The only real concern I have is we have 1 true KPF. Harry who is prone to missing games. With all the talk, it doesn’t seem like we are looking at adding another KPF which is concerning to me.

If West Coast could bid on Dean at pick 2 we must have a strategy to get one of these picks out of the draft and then perhaps trade back in once he has been bid on. I'd be so nervous being Austin trying to think do we try and get up the board ahead of the bid, but then if West Coasts bids its all for nothing. Seems like the safer option would be to trade out one pick for a future first and then trade back in if we can find clubs to work with to do that.

We wouldn't do that you can still trade picks out on draft night after the bid has gone in

Thinking more about Florent and Hayward joining...

Are these the only two guys since Judd who have GF experience (Newy maybe)?

I know those two haven't won it, but they have been in teams that know what it takes. One of the thoughts in the back of my head about Carlton for the last 10 years is that we haven't had players from successful sides. I do think there needs to be a balance and with those two coming in can boost us in more ways than just their actions on field.

Excited for 2026!

I would not assume lower money.
Quite likely they just make the extra year a condition of agreeing to be traded

They werent exactly in the same boat.

Hayward was entrenched in swans 22 and turned down big offers to stay with them. Probably got an extra year at the same pay, maybe even a bump.

Florent played sub/reserves for alot of the year despite being on a good deal. Im not suggesting the extra year is free. But think its likely it's likely at a lower wage. He gets security. We get to spread his deal.

'We want you gone': The Cox call that led to an Argentina pact for two new Blues - https://www.afl.com.au/news/1448129

Watching that club video yesterday of the two of them touring the club, I couldn't help but think how much of a positive influence Hayward is going to be around the club. Looks like a real leader.

I can't see a reason why West Coast would bid, they have their own father son's to worry about in the next few years and you don't want to make enemies in the trade/draft game for no reason.

Respectively Soap, Saad is on his last legs, hope he has a better year, Boyd offers no run or rebound again same as above, Lucas is not atm even a consideration for a defensine or wing roll at senior level …

Ollie i liked his progression last year, splits between HB and wing is a lock Chesser the same although he is a natural winger who should also roll through the midfield, Carroll great upside who should progress into a best 23 defender/winger this season..

Forent will split time between defence and higher up the ground, doubt Cottrell will be entertained as a defender/although always glad to see the club try positional roles…

Wilson and Charleson are still young developing kids with great potential, but who have another level of consistent performances to string together, before replacing others…

I said "can play there". I was talking about balance of list. I never rated them and if they are on the list I include them. Everything else is opinion

Well said. We have such a wide supporter base and it includes a combo of realists, dreamers and in-betweeners.

I personally like to be a "dreamer" based on sound knowledge and genuine hope. Of my nearly 70 years on this earth I have learnt that it is the best way to be truly happy.

But that's me. I wouldn't dare tell people how they should think or live their lives

PS I seriously believe we are finally turning things around. Go Blues
