I mean, right or wrong, you are aware Jackson literally has to say the right thing right? His teammates also.As I called it the article was utter garbage, but i’m sure there are many here who still would rather believe some no name and people connected to MFC over the man himself and his own teamates.
I thought Bell might have been too controlling so they shifted him, replaced by Brierty. Alas we are even worse under Brierty now and I am starting to think maybe Belly could see that JL didn't have the spine to demand things of the players so he had to step in and do it for him.Walls is not a moron. Brierty on the otherhand is a pencil pusher and reeks of using free AI tools to make decisions.. Once he runs out of tokens, he wings it..
Kozzi shows up once every 5 games mate.Jackson is somewhat damaged goods for Melbourne, he mailed in the 2nd half of the '22 season when Melbourne was contending (I think Freo beat Melbourne r11 after they had won 17 on the trot). Pickett while not perfect, never picks and chooses when he is on, tries every time. He is adored at Melbourne, his family is adored and cared for. And with all the heart ache Melbourne has had around Oliver, do they really need another off field circus? McVee and Rivers are also super reliable, why would Melbourne go hard for a flakey player, and trade out the best working parts of the team.
What response do you expect? What else is he gonna say

I envy the innocence.I mean, right or wrong, you are aware Jackson literally has to say the right thing right? His teammates also.
Wouldn't exactly call some of these journos "no name" either.
Clearly a bit of smoke here that's worthy of discussion.
Joe Brierty – who sounds like a 50s baseballer or something you do to lose a few kilos – is a peculiar appointment.I thought Bell might have been too controlling so they shifted him, replaced by Bond. Alas we are even worse under Brierty now and I am starting to think maybe Belly could see that JL didn't have the spine to demand things of the players so he had to step in and do it for him.
A person walking away from their million dollar, five year contract is 'significant.' no matter the way he goes, it will be significant. and right now, he is a Dockers player. That's some very flowery, corporate speak for "we've asked nicely and we hope so".
I guess in these circumstances the player manager and club just agree on the public statements which probably have no relation to what is going on behind the scenes.I mean, right or wrong, you are aware Jackson literally has to say the right thing right? His teammates also.

A new coach adds some risk year 1 though. I assume we will be embedding in a completely different game plan so it might take awhile to gel. We should probably have expectations of just missing finals before then jumping up from a trading point of view.
Melbourne clearly don’t want to trade Kossi without a young player coming back so we might be waiting another 12 months. I’m not trading Jackson unless there are huge overs and we have a solid backup plan, even if he requests it.
RTB won a final in his first year with a weaker list than we have now.
Pretty sure Chris Scott won a flag year one.
Methinks he wants to he in the thick of the action.Duffield was telling Corn & Gerard this evening that Jackson wants to be Number 1 ruck, so that's part of it.
Yes and we are desperate for some size / point of difference in our mids.Methinks he wants to he in the thick of the action.
When played as a 2nd Ruck, he rests forward too much. Just play him as a big bodied mid, still plenty of ruckwork around the ground he can then do, or takeover for injuries.
Yes, you're quite right. If the rumours are true and he wants out, it's to any Melbourne club, and any other team for that matter.Long way to go BUT once again it’s reported as will only entertain a trade to Melbourne.
That pissed me off more than anything.
Obviously Pickett becomes a player that could easily be part of the deal but why should we have to just accept one club.
Bombers have no rucks. They could offer 2 early firsts and possibly a player for Jackson.
This whole boo hoo wah wah want to go home BUT just to club X shits me.
Demons may offer the most but if we entertain trading him we must see what best value is to suit us.
Brad Hill helped us turn a 2nd rounder into Pick 10 (90% of the Serong Pick)) AND Acres.Goodness me.
He is absolute dogshit. Slow, uncompetitive and kicks what - 15 goals a season. As bad as Switta and Frederick have been this year I think I’d still select them over Jesse Motlop.
We need to stop being a refuge for C graders. Also he’s from WA - bringing home all this WA talent that spends a few years in Melbourne is really working out well for us so far isn’t it?
Brad Hill
Acres
Hogan
Lobb
Jackson
Max Gawn practically mocking us on triple M for losing all these WA players that we bring home.
So Yeah - let’s keep doing it.![]()
Both teams will probably have new coaches too so they would play a part in how they want the team and who wants to play for them.Didn’t this all start with Gawn being a bit cheeky about saying if LJ was to return to Vic it would only be to Melbourne.
Melbourne hold the cards for Pickett. Freo hold even more cards for Jackson.
Really doubt he gets traded.
So he is after a no. 1 ruck spot and Melbourne is the only club. Well that makes zero sense. Melbourne have generational ruck and captain in the position. So is Gawn heading up forward FT to accommodate LJ. Sure whatever. Gawn is a brilliant ruck one of the best ever but up forward he is ok for very short periods but isn’t great and his goal kicking from close range is embarrassing really.
If an absolute godfather offer is thrown at us and Darcy comes good then sure Walls might rub the sleep dirt off his eyes and have a think about it but otherwise won’t happen.
Collins had to play a year at VFL level to get another go, every club could have had him for nothing.Sure there’s bigger names who have left but it’s these hard nosed tough players that have killed us not being here anymore I believe
Not in your top 10 paid players either but a hard tough iron fist of solid durable players in your 10-20 bracket
Sam Collins
Blake Acres
Lachie Shultz
Lloyd Meek
All disrespected by the club to varying degrees and now toughening up our competition while we make like camp chairs 3 out of 4 weeks
All of them just needed a little bit of love and respect from this dumbass club

Acres was disrespected but old mate is the first BF poster to ever say Acres and tough and hard-nosed in the same sentence.Collins had to play a year at VFL level to get another go, every club could have had him for nothing.
Acres was injured 2/3 years he played for freo, wanted a payrise on the back of half a season of good footy.
Schulz was a best 22 player that was traded whilst in contract and Meek left for opportunities.
Hardly think any of them were disrespected by the club, its a tough sport and tough calls have to be made sometimes.
Would be super frustrating for LJ, started the weekend well but just completely unsighted after that. some players you just have to leave them be when they are doing well, moving them around messes with their flow.Methinks he wants to he in the thick of the action.

Not saying everyone needs to be a business person or have played the game, but the guy has never had another job in his entire life and somehow got a decent gig in football development straight out of a pretty bog average sports science degree at Curtin.
Less peculiar and ascendant than the oddity of Laura Kane, but still doesn't make much sense.
So – what's the go with Joe Brierty?
This is certainly true of him now, but btwn 2021 and 2023 (especially those 2 years specifically) Darcy put up great marking numbers. To the extent we saw Darcy and Meek and even Darcy and Sandi play together, it was off the back of Darcy's marking (combined with an obvious lack of other options).Would be super frustrating for LJ, started the weekend well but just completely unsighted after that. some players you just have to leave them be when they are doing well, moving them around messes with their flow.
2 rucks can work, provided they can both do other things. LJ can, big Darcy has zero ability to play forward or a kick behind the play.
