Look how Hawthorn goes about it. They are very aggressive at luring players over. Mitchell is a campaigner but he is extremely driven at attaining success for his club. Every offseason he is flying interstate to lure contracted players over. McCreery is from SA so he is clearly okay with living away from home. He is a need and brings us closer to a premiership. I don't care if we fail to lure him over, I just want our team to try. They should be over in Victoria making a pitch to him. A lot of Collingwood players have voiced wanting more money so the time to strike is now. The same goes for any other player that is a need for us. We are at a disadvantage being in WA, we need to leave no stone unturned. I just don't see that level of desperation from the club for non-WA players.I'd love McCreery but unfortunately I can't see us being able to lure him away from Collingwood.

Read somewhere in finals, 20% is in the air, and 80% is ground ball.
We have a deficiency in ground ball, and keeping the ball in our forward line.
Switta is our best pressure act player, but he only plays 2 out of 3 games (injured).
Look at hawks version of Wizard, he is electric with ball, but he's also a pressure forward when he doesn't get the ball, and he's a midget.
If Jackson comes on as our next Young, and Erasmus keeps improving, I would argue Freo's biggest need is one or two pressure forwards that kick goals (Shultz)
He’s been at Hawks since the end of 2018 actually. He’s had influence on their direction long before he actually took over as coach. He had control of their midfield first and then became head of player development. He got a head start like 3 years before he officially Started.Mitchell has only been at Hawthorn for 4 years and in that time ,its unreal what he has achieved ,firstly as a coach and secondly rebuilding the team of players he has chosen. We are still fumbling around making some gains and Longmire has been with us 5 years. Hawthorn are making inroads in this finals series after a good effort last year and could go all the way.
Hopefully we take that step next year and then I wont feel so bad
All Melbourne need to do now is draft someone called "Tommy Knocker" and we're good to go!!Now that Stephen King is named as the new Dees coach we should know within a week or two what Judd McVee plans are

Isn’t that Andy and Caleb?Need a special committee who's only job is to focus on selling WA to all these Eastern guys.
Well they’re not doing a very good job are theyIsn’t that Andy and Caleb?
Lol"fumbling around" and we don't have a coach called Longmire.
This is effectively Mitchell's 6-7th year developing that list. They also have done it differently shoring up key positions with $$ and raiding teams.
The out of the blue thing that has made them effective is Gunston's form this year. Nobody sees that coming. They are literally 40 goals better off because of his form.

Is that why we beat them this year?Lol
Mitchell shits AAAAALLLL over jlo champ.
In every aspect of coaching and leading an organisation,
In a hypothetical ,if given a choice between the 2 to coach our side ,only but a few (yourself included) would choose mumbles ahead of Sammy the snake.
In fact this board alone would about
98%
2%![]()

I'm not your champ either.
Everyone would. Doesn’t mean he hasn’t had any easier transition into coaching and still gets all the additional advantages of a big vic team.Lol

Your just a grass is always greener fan. You don't know anymore than any of us about coaching footy sides. We lost to Melbourne and the aints champ
By that rationale I guess we’re “behind” them too huh?
The thing is there is no choice and the choice is hindsight champions.Lol

Oh idk mal, you’ve been pretty clear on your thoughts on Ras and likewise mine…Your just a grass is always greener fan. You don't know anymore than any of us about coaching footy sides.
I don't know where you read in my posts that I said I prefer Jlo over Mitchell? Did you announce a poll or something?Oh idk mal, you’ve been pretty clear on your thoughts on Ras and likewise mine…
Seems my views are being justified more and more as time goes on just on that one alone…..
As for jlo wellllll 3 yrs on we’re basically still not even at the same level the club was 3 years ago!
I am actually , a premiership medal to be exact!!…..for a lucky 23 players at our club! You after a medal or something?
Had to be addressed 2 off-seasons ago and at the absolute worst last year, the street parties on here about getting the last pick in the 1st Rd for Shooter the year before was some of the dumbest shit everI mean that’s clearly our biggest need over everything right? I can’t think of anything else we need so desperately that we don’t have any sort of depth on the list. This off season will be a failure if we can’t cover that need.
Depth wise it's easily our biggest need. Reckon players 24-32 on our list and/or the best 23's ability (ie changing roles to cover injuries) to cover a normal sized injury list is good enough.I mean that’s clearly our biggest need over everything right? I can’t think of anything else we need so desperately that we don’t have any sort of depth on the list. This off season will be a failure if we can’t cover that need.
I don't think WA itself is much of an issue, as you said the players forced to come here seem happy enough. But when we're competing with 10 Vic clubs it's almost impossible for us to offer an eastern states player something they can't get from another club. There will always be a VIC club(s) that can offer more money, club(s) that can offer finals, club(s) that can offer opportunities, etc. On top of that that Vic clubs can offer less travel, which leads to a longer career, and some can offer more fame/exposure and a bigger crowd.Need a special committee who's only job is to focus on selling WA to all these Eastern guys. Plenty have never been here before we drafted them and love it. We seem entirely content on just luring WA players home and we're always going to be at a disadvantage while we're happy only doing that.
I think the only way we were going to get Bont was if they really failed this year and they sacked Bevo. Then he’d be wondering if he could go through another rebuild. Even then his head would have more likely have been turned by a vic club.I don't think WA itself is much of an issue, as you said the players forced to come here seem happy enough. Victorian based player usually travel to WA once a year, and it's the worst/longest trip they'll have all year, so they probably say to themselves "I would hate to do that trip another 9 times a year".
This isn't to say we should give up on Victorian players, we apparently had a good crack at Bontempelli. We're not content on luring only WA players, they're just the only ones open to moving to WA.
Has to be a wind-up that Bont was seriously ever coming over here? I thought that was just a joke.I don't think WA itself is much of an issue, as you said the players forced to come here seem happy enough.
