I dont need to be expert to know how bad that current trade is and trying to justify it as it stands is just mind boggling to me. Let's see if anyone else gives up value to move down the order.

I mean I think you would need to be an expert, on the draft, on mcvee, on Freo’s list needs, and on our plans for the rest of the draft/trade period.

Go out side touch grass and smile who’s to say that who we draft at pick 12 isn’t going to be a dud and 19 be the next Murphy Reid. Just wait for the future and get angry like when people post the Luke hodge trade again

Pick 23 for McVee is still slightly unders IMO. I thought we'd get him for less and hoped we'd keep Pick 12 but getting a player like McVee onto our list is the priority.

Am suspicious about a trade involving that many picks but no future picks tbh.

The point is to build a team to try to win a flag. It is not to try to end up with more points at the end of trade period. Maybe we should check if the teams with the most points win the flag every year, or x years later?

The only objective measure of a trade would be retrospective, years after when the careers of the players involved are done and dusted.

The only question is, are we closer or further away than we were prior to the trade? Clearly the club (and I) think we are closer.

True. The current reigning premier is a team of low draft picks. Not a top pick among them….

See now I know you dont understand the maths / thought process. McVee is completely separate to the discussion

Trading for picks - literally throwing away currency

That's conflating completely seperate issues. No one seems to be disagreeing about paying 23 for McVee, they are disagreeing with unnecessarily overpaying to get the 23

Fine by me. Don’t understand the melts.

12 and 33 for 19 and 23 is a bad trade. Historically the higher pick needs a premium. New trade index is in effect but we have paid value to have a lower pick.

On top of that, we have given up more value (dont care how small, you dont throw away currency) in 44 & 50 for 46.

On historic trades, on the point index on everything, we have effectively given away pick 33 to WC for no reason

He never wrote that though. He said "believe this is how the trade is shaping up".

In his position he's probably asking around from one club to another, waiting to get a chance to talk to each and coming back with bits and pieces from each without having the full picture.
