West Coast said "ok Freo, Brisbane aren't going to pay Allen enough for band 1 so we're going to have two end of first round picks, we value McVee higher than one of those and we can front load a deal to him upwards of a million bucks next year. Or you could help us net Starc and our band 1 pick?"

In this case, if we have any doubts on Simpson at half back, then McVee is a must for us next year and I'm ok with us doing this trade.

My opinion that no one gives a shit about is that yes I am disappointed if I lose $1, but I'm not going to cry over it, just like while I am disappointed to lose pick 33 for seemingly nothing, it's not going to ruin my day and I personally will not be handing in my membership over it. Nothing is separate though. These things don’t occur in a vacuum.

Maybe west coast were making moves on McVee behind the scenes, and leaned on Freo, so Walls had to go.

Maybe there were no other good opportunities to generate a pick 20s for McVee, so walls went with what he had. Walls isn’t a campaigner who brinksmanships the 33.

The trade for me highlights how much the club rates McVee and doesn’t rate the draft.

That said, I appreciate what you are saying and remain hopeful a F3 is missing.

Why are people saying he's a small forward? He would be a great get but he's a mid. We do need more outside run and skill but we are also desperate for a small forward.
