Brisbane upgraded all their picks and swap Starcevich for #22.

Freo downgraded all their picks to upgrade #33 to #23

West Coast upgraded their first, downgraded their second and swapped Starcevich for #22.
Maybe THIS will help people come to understand that the club is throwing away its resources.

WC paid less than 22 for Starcevich
Brisbane got more than 22 for Starcevich.

Freo literally footed the bill to help the reigning premier and our arch rival get better. If you dont care about that then you just dont actually care about winning a flag

Thanks for being the voice of reason

It just seems like such a nothing thing to be angry about. Got our guy early in the week which is a positive. And we threw in some late picks that will be worthless on draft night to get it done.

But the points!!! Yeah cool.

Come away still holding an early enough pick. Probably means we’re comfortable with our targets - which fits with what I’ve been saying about how teams will draft in the first round. And also probably means we only plan on one live pick plus an NGA late.

I enjoyed the Snuff fishing last night.

But I'm ready to join the pitchfork line today.

This isn't about getting McVee which is a good choice, it's the not maximising resources around the margins, it's an elite sporting competition and we have enough areas of disadvantage without adding to it.
I don't care if we didn't rate the players at 33, find a way to turn it into value elsewhere.

We're down to 16th on the 2025 draft value chart (pinned post). 😭

By the time academy bids and father son are done it works out to be like
13 (Allen compo so not 12) to 19
19 to 28
Mcvee for 32-35
33 to 45

So it’s going to be
Pick 19 and 45 for 28 and 32(Mcvee)
It’s really not that bad of a deal once it’s all said and done
Pick 33 is not going to be pushed out nearly that much.

Club shared this on Facebook. Its right lol we have every right to melt

FMD. Are they proud of this? I’d be hiding this in the back of the stationery cupboard, not blasting it out over social media. I can’t believe freakin everyone isnt melting over this garbage.

Pretty much this , nutshell

If we had #7 and then #49 - would we be melting over trading that top ten pick for Flanders?
Of course we would - trade it back, get something back.
Clearly there isn't a lot of value assigned to this draft that's clear.

Begs the question, if Whan isn't guaranteed to be bid on inside the top 40 in this draft, is he any good? That terrible pick swap has seriously made me question whether there's any talent in this draft.....

Melts over a 4 pick downgrade are fantastic. Yes I'm accounting for the Lions and Suns to keep their picks (14, 16 & 17) and being used for academy bids.

Yes, I am also chasing a trash react from Snuff.

He is very very borderline if he gets selected in the main draft and the rookie draft.

He has dropped out the top 50 in the mock drafts I have seen, I think he is good chance to slip to the rookie draft.

I think he will be a good late pick, rookie pick but anyone taken around that point in the draft is there for a reason.

On face value the picks are abominable!!

Why would we do this deal?

Why waste energy on it when we don’t even know what else is happening or if the club even rates the draft.

It doesn’t really help, and feels like crap to be in that headspace.

I’m more pumped to get McVee in.

Wasn’t there people upset with the Bolton trade last year? Thought we could pay less. Then we went and got Murphy Reid, and he won the rising star.

Surely we could've got a late pick back in the McVee trade?
No point IMO.

We're going to use the two picks we have and match/draft a Whan bid just after.

Swapping Pick 41 (Spargo compensation) for Pick 46 would've made most sense for use but tbh I think Pick 23 for McVee is pretty fair as it is.
