Think Teakle, Boyd and Mirkov are the ones we've talked to recently ruck wose.

Boyd has recently singed a two year deal in the SANFL and the other two haven't officially signed with a state league club.

Gut feel is Teakle is on our list next year.

As the Collingflogs have said for 2 years he's as cooked as a Pom on Scarborough beach.

Would rather Knobel come back or any bloke 10 years younger get the gig, but he'll be there as an emergency

wtf!!???

That’s the ONLY reason I want us to pick him up fir

-specifically at the away derby ..(of course it’d help if were actually playing tho ;)
Ohh well if we're using it to annoy west coast supporters...still gross but less gross.

For what we'd want, Mason Cox is a level above other options we were linked with like Harry Boyd and Brynn Teakle. Checks most of the boxes - big body that will absorb the hits, can be a presence down the line, won't ask for much. Watch what Grundy did to Teakle or how Boyd wasn't even St Kilda's best VFL ruckman. It's not about his abilities in a vacuum (obviously he's gotten worse), it's relative to what else is available.

In general, I like the idea of making a decision on our backup ruck early rather than SSPing them. The SSP should be used on 22 and under players that have promise but you want to learn more about. If the debate is Cox vs Teakle vs Boyd, there should be ample vision already out there to make the call.

The main issue is the 2 years, wait till the Peel watchers start bagging him in round 3. It’ll seem like an eternity at Peel which will probably be fine for our AFL team as I recon he won’t be required.

I usually wouldn't be open to signing Mason Cox, I know we were interested in him a few years ago, but if he essentially filled the Liam Reidy spot we had this year, I wouldn't be upset.

There's worse depth we could have, we were linked to Boyd and Teakle after all, I think the majority of AFL fans could agree Cox is objectively (and I hate using that word) better depth than those two.

2 years is a long time for a 34 year old

He won't be getting offers elsewhere so 1 is enough if he wants to continue his career, if he doesn't want to move over for just the 1 then so be it, don't see why we should be bending on this

Fair points, but he only started in the league when 24, and has barely travelled. And he still won't be travelling with us, as he'd likely be stuck in Perth most of the time.

And as someone who loved in Texas for 7 years, I think Texas and WA have a lot in common, so I think he'd be happy to come here.
