The Crows have changed their tune the last couple of weeks. Instead of their usual noise, they now say “fa*rk, fa*rk, fa*rk, fa*rk”.

I can't believe Nicks went with the "if we had Rankine, we would have won our last 2 games", sounds like my under 16s coach.

I don’t believe it either …

… because I watched his presser and I don’t remember him saying anything of the sort.

Assuming we get to a GF, then Sam Mitchell needs to beat his bogey side to then get to his bunny side

S Mitchell record vs Geelong 11-18 as s player, 1-4 as coach
S Mitchell record vs Collingwood 15-7 as a player, 3-3 as coach

For me, I hope the Cats win, as I am confident that we'd again be bullied by Hawthorn if we play them again.

Craig McRae vs Hawthorn, 10-4 as a player and 3-3 as coach

Well at least we know who the AFL will fixture us to be playing away at in Round 2 next year!
Yep, lock that one in.
AFL happy to promote a rivalry based on a homophonic slur.

He said losing Rankine changed the whole dynamic of the team. That's a big statement for a club missing one player. Hawthorn had probably their best player out also

If true, here's a coach putting up his hands and saying: "I didn't have the cattle.".

Inspiring leadership. The players must feel awesome.

So Rankine is suspended till round 2, or the other multitude of round numbers it could be?

Must not go to Crom board & mention something about straight sets.

Artificial rivalry coming up.

We boo you because our player said something homophobic!
Rankine got allowance because of missing finals. Of course the AFL has a clause to revise the penalty by increasing weeks now that he is out for home and away. What a putrid decision!!! What a putrid club!!! And yo, where is the AFL on Geelong abuse week?

Wanted the Hawks to lose, but I'm glad the Crows/Pies GF is off the table. Might have been best for us in terms of opponent, but prefer not to have a GF marred by booing of Rankine or whoever else would have been targeted.

He said that having Rankine out changed the dynamic, which is an indirect way of making an excuse.

Saying “… having Rankine out changed the dynamic” (which is perfectly fair and reasonable) isn’t anything like “we lost the games because of Rankin”

I know you’re paraphrasing and I didn’t watch his presser myself….

But did he really?

Wow
No. He was asked about the Rankine impact on the club. I'd paraphrase it as he said the impact was only football. And that they're a much better team with Rankine in it.

Effectively creating defeatist excuses.

Rankine is critical to them but I'd bet my house that Fly would never do this. Must respect and empower the players taking the field for the club. Words are important.

Collingwood won against Port with Buckley missing; there's "culture" for you.

Nicks is now in my esteem a jelly-spined, cheese-eating surrender monkey.

No, it's not the same thing 76, but he's giving them an out.

We know Rankine is important but they underperformed. The coach should own it.

EDIT: They sprayed opportunities in front of goal and didn't chase as hard as they could have. He was coaching the players on the ground and his comments should be about them, and their performance.

Nicks wasn’t comparing his situation to Hawthorn at all.

He just said that having his best player out changed his team dynamic. Which seems perfectly reasonable, if not obvious?

You don’t think having Nick Daicos out would change our team dynamic?

I can't believe anyone gave Adelaide a chance. Their season ended when they realised that they are average and that was when they used that ridiculous flood against us a few weeks ago. Heavy flooding is a sign of weakness in modern football and their midfield is non existant. GC will beat Brisbane tonight and we will play hawthorn in the Gf. I could feel the whole of Geelong collectively squeeze their butt cheeks when the siren went last night. BTW, the Pies will smash hawthorn in the GF
I went Adelaide. Assessing my hate can be difficult when my hate is perfectly justified and both teams need to lose. I must be better to be in touch with my hate. I must continue to improve even when I’m an old fart.

No doubt Nick's absence would, but I just can't see Malthouse or Fly speaking publicly along those lines.

As JuniorB posted, Nicks has not displayed strong leadership during this finals campaign.

Fly wouldn't have even mentioned it, that's the difference. We've played without our best players for the last 3 years. Rankine was inconsistent to say the least also.
