Couldn't understand why Bailey McKenzie was not drafted or even talked about last year. Seems to have a lot of attributes.

Can any draft experts shed any light? Worth picking up this year in a shallow draft?

By no means an expert but I remember in his draft year I had no idea what he'd be at AFL level. He was playing as a key forward at 192cm and I suspect clubs didn't expect him to grow into a genuine AFL-level forward height-wise

He's probably similar to Logan Morris as a third tall forward without the contested marking ability nor the strength. Without those physical attributes there really wasnt much chance to succeed at AFL level unless he was elite at ground level like Owens - which he's not. No standout attributes

A move back means he can use his agility a bit more which is promising for him. Could be a late bloomer

I certainly agree with this take.
But as I well know, they have a long and proud history and culture prior to the alignment.
I wouldn't be surprised if they are quite competitive within five years. Only time will tell.
