I'd be picking the following, in order:

• Defenders: May (if he's dead cheap and not a total dick which sounds like he is), Ridley (but sounds like he wants to leave VIC), Butts, Aleer
• Midfielders: Butters (to play alongside Nick for the next 10 years), Flanders, Windhager (ultimately replacing Crispy in a few years), Davies, Tsatas
• Rucks: none (got enough up and coming backups on our list)
• Forwards: King (the Gold Coast variety), Riccardi, Lord (Ollie, not Cooper)

i can definitely say i don't want him if he is demanding anywhere near 800k a year

why hasn't he been able to cement a position in that side until this year?
why was he dropped on multiple occasions in that time
doesn't scream to me as being worth the kind of money being mentioned.

rather develop McInnes and Smit
i think we are going to drop away after this year a little anyway, so dont see us as a serious threat, Slivagni or no Silvagni
rather we invest in the draft unless we can get a star in

I like Silvagni as a free agent on okay money 650-700k. 4 years is a little on the nose but I would still do it. He showed he was a very good defender this year but he is very injury prone and has been throughout his career. Maybe we can fix this but probably not.
If we can't get him then target a Butts type for a 2nd rounder on less cash. It's not a big deal if we miss out on Silvagni.

To be clear, mine wasn't a source just a close family friend of the Silvagnis if that helps clear up things. (still saying he will be a Pie) I guess people can change their minds though depending on what goes on amongst the clubs?

That is an average of 12.8 games per season.
If we get him for 4 years at 700k and he averages same for us that would be 51.2 games total
That would work out at around $13,671$ per game played.

Athletic profile from what I’ve seen. Like Blanck though he’s got a deficiency that’s meant he can’t get past their regular back 7 which is his size (Blanck’s being as you said that he seems too defensively minded). I’d also be taking a look at Mitchell.

It'll be interesting with Weddle likely to return this week - does Scrimshaw miss out and become gettable? Or will they play Weddle elsewhere?

Someone just posted that JSOS is averaging 12.8 games a season over 10 years. So he's missed 50% of his entire career to date with injuries I assume. Then he's played like a handful of games this year as a backman and impressed before, like clockwork, going down for the rest of the season.

That would suggest what the other bloke is saying is not hyperbole and quite the truth. Good or bad footy aside, he has literally only been averaging half a season of footy over his career

I would much rather be offering 800K to Lek Aleer over JSOS. I am guessing it wouldn't be much of a choice if he were presented going to St. Kilda vs. Collingwood

Agree his cost is important, but I don’t really care about Carlton selection preferences, as long as we believe he fits into our structure/ game plan.
Did we really care where Frampton, or Lippa’s former Clubs chose to play them?

These offers aren't to do with his work as a forward/ruck - he'd be cheap as chips if that was part of the equation - they're all about the first half of this year where he was a very good defender.

It'll be interesting with Weddle likely to return this week - does Scrimshaw miss out and become gettable? Or will they play Weddle elsewhere?

Scrimshaw fascinates me. Every time I watch them play he seems solid, but he’s essentially a 4th or 5th tall back there depending on how they use Weddle and is usually the first to go if a decision is required. This week is a further example.

He seems an obvious trade target along with say MacDonald and Mackenzie (not for us) if they chase Petracca. For some reason though I doubt he leaves. Like Brisbane and Geelong they’re doing a staggering job keeping the band together.
