Alex davies was ok in the win against freo. Had about 6 clearances (4th most on the ground), and 19 touches ( 4 kicks,15 handballs).

I would look at him if his price is cheap.

Allan’s is definitely the only player with the size, speed and tank to go with Dempsey. Steele hasn’t got the size or wheels.

Dempsey would kick 6 if Allan was trying to run with him. No defensive instincts

Issue is he’s stringing consecutive games together at the most important time - he might now figure in GC’s vision for next year and beyond

We desperately need a key forward for next season and an elite mid to take the burden off the older brigade. Pendles and Sidebottom should only play a select number of games during the season…so that they are primed for finals similar to Degoey this year.

Need a key back and another quality mid ahead of a key fwd imho. Key forwards have become role players these days

Our midfield and forward pressure is making Frampton look like FB of the century. But you’re probably right Howe is closest to the end, and we need another quality player to replace him…

I can’t agree a first you need to match Dempsey’s athletic profile.

Didn't we have a crack at Alex Davies a couple of years ago, before he chose to re-sign with the Suns? Can't imagine we'd be able to get him now that he's entrenched up there.

I'm thinking around pick 35. I'm also doubting freo would be interested. WC would be interested in him and has been half heartedly linked to them. I would just keep him and expect a huge pre season and a change in mindset. He needs a bit of aggression in his demeanour and actually believe that he's better than what he's producing

I don’t have any issue about he’s aggression given how he initiates “push and shove” at stoppage which more passive players like RSteele do not. So Allan could easily elevate his aggression if given the role and therefore license to do so. It’s pretty easy when your 194cm and most opponents are smaller than you.

It was last year. There was talk around 2 months ago that he will look for a trade as he was out of the team, however that may have changed since he started getting games.

I think it'll be less about what he is getting now, and more about where he sees his future, especially with Graham to come back whose spot he is probably taking right now while he is injured. Add in their new academy players this year.

Has shades of Dev robertson to it. Stayed in 2023 because he was playing, lot lost the gf, and was never a regular again with the likes of Levi Ashcroft taking his place.

No you don’t. Long doesn’t match Dawson’s athletic profile, Pendles never matched Cripps’, and Frampton doesn’t match Thilthorpe - yet all have been effective in direct nullifying roles previously.

Are we in bad shape if we don’t add one? A returning Reef alongside Moore, Howe, Frampton and maybe Howes as a flex option seems enough to me for 2026. Yes there’s some urgency for 2027 if it turns out Reef isn’t up to it alongside a looming Howe retirement, but Frampton’s emergence has lessened the need to add one, IMO.
