Cumulative inflation since 2020 is basically 20%. A million then is 800k now. This is why everyone’s been feeling the pinch because your dollar doesn’t go as far.

The AFL CBA hasn’t exactly kept up with that (whose salary has?) but the last one was a 5% increase.

All of us have to adjust the way we perceive what a million dollar player is.

The extra tall has to be of more use than just loafing around as a forward that can't mark or kick.

I was listening to something recently about why st Kilda can’t land a big fish. And it reminded me a little of us when we were flaunting that money around.

Basically players of course want the money but the pressure of coming in as the highest paid / best is too much. They don’t want that responsibility. We tend to forget players are ppl too.

Hence why they’re more likely to join if they’re not alone or going to be labelled as the saviour. Sadly, this only really happens when a team is performing well.

So we can play souva with Camz and duurs who are of similar height

You don’t play medium defenders on Tex or fog but you do zurhaar or duurs

Think more Rayner with the lions as a medium or fritsch you don’t count them as talls but they are still surrounded by 3 talls
