Disagree.

Sheezel, Wardlaw, Curtis, Hardeman, Mckercher, O'Sullivan all quality.

Only question marks are on Duursma.

Hopign WDawson is in that top list as of this time next year
IMO Curtis, McKercher and Sheezel are the only ones to date who have put together full, grown up quality seasons.

The others have potential or good form in patches but are not at that rung yet.

That's not to say I doubt someone like FOS on output to date, but expectations will go up and we'll see how the sentiment is if he's averaging 15 disposals in a year or 2.

Especially with our lack of 2025 R1, I'd only give up F1s for a knock out deal eg <=25yo (eg Kosi) or younger emerging star (eg Reid) or a split into multiple decent picks.

I’d almost rather Frost than Lever. Frost had a decent 2024 season, better than what we have on the list anyway. Only knock would be he’s 32? Maybe 1 year? Just to give Dawson enough time.

Morning.

Frost is good for at least another 2 yrs. He's got 'Frostball' out of his game now and was exceptionally good in 2024 and was cruelly injured in the finals.

We have James Blanck and Jai Serong too.

2 out of those 3 would have been ever-present in our side in 2025 - except we signed All Australians Josh Battle and Tom Barrass.

Frost, Blanck and Serong aren't getting a game as they are behind Sicily, Scrimshaw, Battle, Weddle and Barrass.

Honestly if you persuaded Serong and Frost to come to Arden St, then your backline would tighten up incredibly well.

Hawthorn would be very supportive in getting any of those guys to a club of their choice as they have been absolute professionals in their time at Hawthorn.

Frost and Serong have significant interest from multiple AFL clubs though.

Very good players both of them.

Thanks but:

Rule #1 - Never trade with Hawthorn
Rule #2 - Refer Rule #1

I agree, but I don't even know if I'd include Colby on that list yet.

He started this season particularly poorly. I'd say (from memory) it wasn't until round 8/9/10~ he really started hitting his strides.

And i'm not saying there's anything wrong with that! But I don't think I'd include him on a list of young players who in your words have played "full, grown up quality seasons".

You know you had us at "Morning"?

There's a random poster in the DTFA thread saying we're very keen on Jordon Butts.

RFA next year. Not best 22 for Adelaide but would be an upgrade on any of our lockdown KPDs I guess.

Wonder what we'd be willing to offer the Crows.
Sir Mix-A-Lot likes this 👍

If you could bring in Butts and Windhager for pick 21, an F2, and steak knives, while also bringing in a good kid in a position of need with pick 20, that'd be a good result to me.

Even better if you could somehow trade Fisher into some currency.

That would be ideal!
Really hoping that the Windhager decision is swift. I do think he'll stay at Saints though :(

No from me. You brought Battle and Barrass to your club for a reason. I'd say Frost and Serong were a significant part of that.

Future 1st would get it done?
The young kids are good enough, its time now to fill the holes with good players

No to frost no to lever

Just get Steven May as a 1 year stop gap or 2 if form warrants

Will Dawson could be a huge answer next year. His job on Darcy was first class, he gave him a touch up. The next week was a bit of a shit show but another pre-season and then give him time in the saddle to develop. I think we are in pretty good shape and a stop gap like Lever, who many were saying is captaincy material if he stayed a Melbourne, would be perfect for us in shaping the defensive system with Comben & Dawson. Rather a Premiership player, who was part of a pretty revered key defensive set up, implementing the system than Logue or Corr.
They're saying this to increase his trade value.

No ****ing way are you spending a future first on butts.

**** me he got done on the lead by Lachie hosie twice yesterday.

He’s a swap of picks if anything, and sits behind Worral, Murray and ****ing Keane

Do we take a punt on Elijah Hollands at Calton who is on the nose (pun intended) and has been told to explore other opportunities outside the club? Had a great 2024 with 22 matches and can play if the mind and body are clear from distraction.

If the Blues agree to chip in on some of his salary and we tossed a 4th rounder this might be worth a punt. If the culture and fit is something we don’t want (TT #2) then it won’t happen. But having a ready made player with upside could be a master stroke if Clarko & Club can settle him down ala Stengle at Geelong.

The asking price for contracted Lever would be a 2nd rounder and he is not worth that.
Butts appears to lack pace and doesn't look real good ball in hand either.
Time to back in Will Dawson to be the stopper down back. Comben will improve as the interceptor and one of Pink/Logue to be the number 2 defender. Aerial support could also come from Arch, Lmac, Goater (whoever is playing at the time).
