We could have a big free agent and trade haul but it would take someone with some charisma to visit players and sell a vision.

Talk about how we have the best ruck in the comp, we dominate clearances, we have young stars and up-and-coming players. Sell that we're going to have the dominant midfield for the next 5+ years (even if it's not true). Talk about Curtis, Larkey, Trembath and Zurhaar up forward. Maybe avoid talking about the backline.

Tell Curnow, Wilkie, Windhager and Butters that we already have agreement from the others and this is their opportunity to be part of something great. Just lie.

Offer them all pay rises, and front loaded.

I can just see Brady Rawlings and Will Thursfield being like Tom Cruise in Jerry MaGuire. Can't you?

In reality we'll have to get runs on the board before good players consider us. We need to find more diamonds in the rough.

It's amazing what Brad has done in a relatively short period of time to destroy that club. It has taken him much longer to do it at North. FFS, the bloke comes into a side that has played finals under Rutten a year before and just missed that year. Scott comes in and, in his first two years, brings in some top-up recruits, suggesting they are ready to challenge, and in his first two seasons, they are, in fact, in the top 4 for large chunks of the season, only to collapse like a house of cards both years. And now he's achieved the impossible - created an exodus and a bottom 4 finish with another one on the cards. Good work, son.
Yes....but it couldn't happen to a better club!!!

Speaking of TT, imagine if he has turned himself around, would the AFL allow us to just add him back onto our list, given he was contracted at the time of his last brainfade? I am dreaming i know, but that's the single best recruit we could possibly get...

Wouldn't matter as we will never take him back, we have a strong moral compass and have won a few moral premierships over the last few seasons.

So far we have tried to get Kelly, Gaff and Martin with no luck. Might as well try to get Butters because somewhere down the track things have to change. Offer him $1.7m over 7- 8 years. If he says "no thanks" there is no harm in trying and we move on.

Exactly. Yet this is totally ignored by the vast majority, not really sure why? 13 straight losses, unchallenged, unspoken. Players are only leaving en masse for one reason - too much BS.

If tigers are happy to let this Tyler young leave - it’s a red flag in my eyes.

And this is a team we kicked 20 goals against and without souva
Yep, rolled-gold certainty he can't play whatever these jungle-themed onesie wearing crettins (although they have a few good ones) may suggest.

The "Moral Premiership Ladder" truly deserves its own thread. If there isn't one by this time next week... there will be by 20:30

Maybe we can add that to the McClelland trophy lol. Will get us some much needed points

I’d assume that he’d be signable as a delisted free agent and could be signed by any club.

I think that on the back of 2 years and no football there is exactly zero AFL clubs that would sign him.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I don’t want TT back.

Just leave it in the past.
Not sure this would actually be all that unpopular to be honest.

Even putting the whole he’s a douche who couldn’t follow simply f***ing instructions to the side.

He’s been out of all football for this season and last.

He couldn’t even get signed at a lower level.

He got ripped off in some drug deal gone bad and then went to the cops about it.

He then go found in a Lamborghini with drug paraphernalia.

It might just be me but this does not scream like the actions of a person who is set on getting themselves back into a professional sporting arena.

If he wants the redemption arc it is simple:
  • No more anything flirting any law
  • Get an actual job
  • volunteer
  • train and eat like you’d have been shown when playing
  • sign to a VFL team
  • kill it
  • persist until an AFL opportunity arises.

There’s a lot of steps for a bloke with his talent a bunch of that would be pretty straight forward.

However I doubt he has the wherewithal to do step 1 let alone the desire to do any of the things that aren’t about that insta life. Which is exactly the sort of things clubs would want to see.

The problem with this is, he could probably jump straight to steps 5 and 6 in whatever state he's in at the moment. There'll never be an incentive to try, and if it ever happens, he'll likely be at a point where his body isn't on the same page. Breathtaking waste of talent

And I am sure many more enquiries have just been met with a laugh by their managers.

If Merrett leaves the dons the last place he’s joining is us
Exactly. Good player but he's 29. He'd be heading to Cats or Hawks who are contenders.
I don't think we're at the point of the build of going all in like Hawks did with Barass and trading multiple 1sts unless it's someone like a Butters who is 25 and will give you 7+ years.

The thing most people forget about TT was, that he wasn't all that good anyway, super over-rated on here.
Dunno, when he was on he was great... there was a period there where he looked like an AA player
but that saga is over for us now and hasn't seem to have bitten us (at least from him walking to another club as a few feared )

"when he was on" which wasn't often. Therefore, not great. He had moments, like Kieran Harper, Aaron Black and Ryan Bastinac. That's his level.

Probably more consistent than Harper and Black, particularly when the things started... maybe Bastinac was more consistent
defiantly talented and just starting to look like he settled though... but its all over...
