All the listed players were good today. Didn't see the first half obviously but Poulter, Duryea and Smith were very good in the second half. Gallagher was strong in the midfield and not as messy as last week. The first 2 could easily slot into the AFL side if injuries occur. Jaques is coming along nicely, smart player who understands his role and disposes of the ball with accuracy. May even see him debut some time this season. A 72 point win against the Pies on their own deck is an excellent result.

Hoping Jaques knocks the door down over the next month and steals a spot off of Bramble. With his current trajectory it looks possible.

Just some observations from around the leage:
  • Dominic Bedendo with a few high production weeks for Port Melbourne.
    • R4: 29 disposals and 3 marks against Essendon (16 point loss)
    • R5: 26 disposals and 4 marks against Box Hill (38 point loss)
    • R6: 22 disposals, 8 marks and 4.2 against the Bullants (99 point win)
    • * he only had the 2 tackles across those 3 games so not sure what his defensive efforts has been like
  • Crossley (Southport) vs Downie (Williamstown)
    • Seemingly the two best regarded VFL rucks over the past couple of years came up against each other this week
    • Crossley smashed Downie 48-17 in the hit-outs which surprised me given he's giving away 5cm
    • Crossley with 6 tackles (equal most on ground) but only 2 clearances as compared to Downie's 9
    • Disposals were 15-19 in Downie's favour so both were reasonably productive

What position is Dom playing? On a wing?

Why the want or haste to replace Bramble , putting together another very solid season.
Mature body in a pretty young backline.
Jacques is going to be good , that I agree with you on.

I agree bramble is having a solid season and contributing well as a role player, you couldn't ask much more of him. Jacques however has the scope to be alot more then that and for alot longer. I'm not one to bring guys in on scope alone especially when someone is comfortably holding down a spot ahead of them, but if Jacques demands the spot, we don't lose anything in the short term whilst gaining alot in future years.

Bramble hasn't reached the heights of last season, especially with his run, carry, and kicking. Backing him to improve in the second half of the season.
