Jaques would have to be close to a debut. I think we’ll look to settle the side though coming into hopefully a finals campaign so unfortunately it may be bad timing. Jaques pre-season injury put him behind others for an earlier look in but the talent is undeniable.

Despite being quiet you’d think Davidson will be the next in line for the wing position at AFL level due to already having games under his belt.

Got less of it today but he plays at such a high intensity. Everything he does looks manic and I’m into it. He just looks like an AFL player.

He seemed to be playing deeper today. Felt like he was playing less half back. Could be completely wrong though

Messy game so far with no one standing out.
After last night , only Harmes is a chance to replace VDM , and I wouldn’t say he’s setting the world on fire.

A half to go , so things may change

Edit , the above was half time.
Our new boys all ran the game out really well.
Dolan a standout, but Jaques , Hynes and Croft excellent in that second half.

Dolan over VDM’s mare last quarter, surely.

L Smith has some tricks with his handballs. Subtle little baulks and an aggressive side.

Lots to like.
Biggest thing missing from his game is his lack of presence in the hair. Barely gets a mark per game. It’s really the only thing preventing him from being playable in the seniors right now

We've got an absolute gun in Dolan, I'd personally keep him in the VFL for the rest of the season to let him develop at his own pace. He certainly won't play much VFL next year
He’s played 11 AFL games so I think could only play 1 more this year while remaining VFL finals eligible (unless the AFL team is still playing). I’m unsure which way I’d go between giving him a clean VFL run as a really influential player vs having him replace VDM as the specialist sub.

I’m excited by a 2026 small forward brigade of Weightman, West, Dolan and Garcia … oh and McSteal if he keeps kicking 3 a week.

I haven't had a chance to watch a lot of VFL this year

How has Walker gone since he got drafted?
Stats wise, looks like he's playing a key defender role

He's got plenty of physical development left in him, but he's got a good footy brain and a great pair of hands.

I feel about last years draft how I felt about the draft where we got Dale, Daniel and McLean in the same draft (and then got Truck the year after).

I remember watching Buckley stand in the crowd at one of our vfl finals and Bailey Dale was slicing up teams just knowing we had talent coming through

Jaques, Hynes, Dolan, Davidson all look the goods to me. And only a year after Sando and Freijah

Looks a couple of years away physically VD.
But he can clunk them.
There’s a fair bit to work with, I think he makes it.

The most promising aspect of yesterday's game was not the depth for this year but the potential players pushing for top 23 after a full pre season
Dolan
Hynes
Jacques
Davidson
Sellwood
Walker

With a couple not to far away
Croft
Smith

We need to ensure during the next trade period we do not just bring in role players that could block these players development.

We have enough role player depth, we just need to focus on quality and our list will finally be a top 4 list

100% agree, some really promising prospects coming through and even if only a few of them hit, we are in very good stead.

Even Freijah who we forget is still only 19 because of how good he's been so quickly, has another level to go to as he builds his body and fitness. Ditto Sanders and Buss in the AFL team from Thursday night just scratching their potential.

In hindsight, not playing Sanders in the middle is much better for his development, given he was an instinctive handballer - he gets more space and the new role demands kicking the ball. Plus he is a good kick for goal.

And a good mark.
