Strachan announced as sanfl skipper

Really bizarre move

It means we're forced to play him, plus our actual AFL listed backup ruck, plus Murray, plus Ludo, plus Maley, plus Welsh. That's a very top heavy forward line

Our Sanfl team is always at the mercy of our AFL list and its balance. This is why we will unlikely win a premiership in the Sanfl. Port is a good example of how unbalanced lists can hurt. I would say its not too bad really. Our midfield in the Sanfl will be pretty good this year which means they could be a massive headache for defence.

I've heard we have also asked Andre The Giant to be on our Sup list for the SANFL team

All I can say Strachanie must be thought of as a hell of good bloke by the coaches because this makes absolutely no sense at all on an AFL/SANFL basis. I thought I read someone from the club said Toby Murray would be getting more ruck exposure this season?

Only thing I can see is maybe they are thinking of going with 2 rucks in the AFL which I can't see working?

Unless there was nothing else available.

The market isn’t exactly swimming with an influx amount of experienced players ready to step into the role Strachan will
Lay.

A ruckman is a very poor selection IMO given our list make-up.

We now have 2 genuine rucks on contract, 3 very capable chop out options in Thilthorpe, Murray and Maley.

Why not Jay Boyle as reward for his service to our SANFL squad?

I’m not disputing that, I’m saying they are just filling a role, and be dammed of the consequences of need or fit.

The club has a strong history of filling roles with jobs for the boys and it appears as if Strachan fits that description

I mean hes been dead 30 years, tackling him mightn't be that hard if youre into that sort of thing.
In the fantasy where he is still alive, what actually is the tackling rule? Like can he run along with the ball while 5 opposition teammates are hanging off him? Or does that count as a tackle still?

Probably holding the ball but if he lands on them, he ain't getting tackled again

If the umpire thinks the tackle is impeding the player, it's a tackle

I think that's the interpretation

If he's running along as per normal then play on

What has Strachan got to do with our AFL list balance? This is the reverse, playing him week in and week out comes at the cost of development of our AFL list. Whether he’s taking ruck minutes from backup ruck or fed/rucks or clogging up the forward line, he’s negatively impacting the AFL list.

The only logical explanation is that we’ll take him in the MSD if either ROB or McAndrew goes down.

no the argument was we have a top heavy unbalanced sanfl side due to the nature of the afl list and playing Strachan adds an extra dimension. Its not about him particularly
