All of Cody Walker, Arki Butler, Jack Pickett, Caylen Murray and a bolter tall skillful utility Xavier Ladbrook might push Dougy for the top spot.....and it would be very rare for for a player or two not to appear out of left field.

That's a dangerous game, seeing the players who've played that card have typically under-performed at AFL level.

Clear standout?

All of Cody Walker, Arki Butler, Jack Pickett, Caylen Murray and a bolter tall skillful utility Xavier Ladbrook might push Dougy for the top spot.....and it would be very rare for for a player or two not to appear out of left field.

The named lads are good prospects and others will climb but for now Dougie sits at the top.
Has proven he can play in all 3 zones, and at the SANFL senior level.

Reminds me of Adam Goodes.

I'll tell you one thing he hasn't inherited is Mark's goal kicking, 2 set shots from about 30 - 40 metres and missed everything on both occassions..

Fair - he definitely wasn’t elite IMO either. I’d put him probably on par with Tyson Edwards as a player.

Nope not even close to a gun. Just a serviceable backline player, got premierships etc but was never ever in the mention of best player category in his era.

Jack Rutten suiting up for Glenelg not his old man's club West Adelaide kicked off his 2026 season with a tidy 18 disposals.

Crows NGA Anthony Long (nephew of Michael Long) had a very promising 20 disposals and a goal for West Adelaide in their narrow win over South Adelaide.

Further to my earlier post on Jack Rutten got in touch with a bloke I know at the Cannons and he said Jack is back in Adelaide now after his father Ben moved back to Adelaide to take up the Port list manager position after Chris Davies moved on. So most likely Jack suits up with West Adelaide Ben's junior club? Handy to have Jack back in Adelaide where our guys can keep a close eye on him.

Any Westies people know if Jack's at West Adelaide?

Jnr Truck debut for Glenelg last night in their win over WWT.
Got 18 touches from a Wing I think so a good start.
Bays too good with their midfield of Croker, Gibson (OA) and McNicol getting plenty of it.
