Probably a worthy time as any to start this lol

There’s a lot of focus obviously on Cochrane , but we have a need to add more than one talent this offseason.

This weekend had some great performances from Sa kids in the under 18’s
Fingers crossed Essendon bid on Walker then take a pick. We are every chance to finish 2nd last this year. We’ve had a dream fixture to start and are 1-2. Imagine when we play a good team.

Positive is we may get ahead of a Dougie bid. And get the stupid bonus pick if the AFL bring it in.

This thread is the most needed of all threads as that is where this club is at.
Our list is garbage, we need a lot of intelligence and hard work as we have so many players not up to it and many that should be moved on. Our backline is poor with both Ratagolea and Allir, BZT replaced quickly.
I liked Richmonds template with a lot of hard running solid body skillful players based on a huge team effort, not a fragmented "individual star focused porridge of garbage.
I think at this stage Carr needs time to show us what he is on about but time may not be his friend without obvious on field and off field success.

As much as I want to win every week, the best scenario draft wise is for us to finish bottom for a couple of years. However as Essendon is looking really bad we might have to settle for 2nd bottom.

Feel like there is an opportunity with Tassie coming in, to secure some early picks with Bergman, Marshall, Drew, Farell, BZT. I wouldn’t want SPP to go, but he also could go to West Coast.

Trading with Tassie and to get a guarantee they won’t bid on our academy picks, could actually help us secure more players and better value overall.

If Butters goes, and bonus picks happen we could end up with Cochrane, Pilot and Salopek, plus another 3-4 first round picks over the next two years. Also Rodan, etc.

This is the type of injection our side needs to be a legit flag threat.

Obviously some free agents would be great too, like Bailey, but chances are pretty low, unless AFL makes it difficult for them to go to finals clubs.

I haven’t really watched anything of these kids yet tho am familiar with a bunch of the names. Some of the Sa talent has been prodigious for some time. Guys like Herbert and van wyk seemingly been around for ages getting talked up and racking up stats.

Looking at the sanfl under 18’s stats this week

Jack Gordon (184cm mid) 32d 9 clr

Ethan Herbert (ruck) 22d 9 clr

Jack Nelson (186?) mid 29d 6 clr

Kale- Matthew’s (187cm hbf) 14d

Harvey Chapman (195cm kpd) 14d

Also Harrison ramm has a brother in this draft Connor 8d 1 goal. Think he’s a ruck?

The crows also have an exciting nga talent in this draft too i believe? Anthony long.

Also of note for 2027 draft port nga but not eligible andriani had 45d :0

Also , of interest to draft watchers should be Kodah Edwards. Was training with port as part of the afl academy. South Adelaide lad and sounds electric. I can’t see if he played this weekend but round 1 he had 24d 7clr 4 goals.

Kodah Edwards is the local midfield product we should be eyeing off if Butters leaves.

As part of the afl academy was assigned to train with port (alongside Cochrane)

I haven’t seen any vision of him yet but have heard him talked up in game write ups for a while. He sounds like an absolutely electric ball winner who makes things happen.

We just have so many list gaps.

Our great hope down back is an MSD pick.
Our midfields best player is likely to leave and we really lack quality outside of that group.

I look at the group and really only see a few players we can guarantee are worth building around. JHF, Rozee (half back) & Georgiades. Not considering Butters.

Whitlock shows promise. Burgoyne could play a role. Maybe Ramm could develop. Visentini might develop to a B grade ruckman level if we're lucky.

But there are big question marks everywhere.

It seems like the next two years might be really decent years for Sa in terms of draftable talent.

There’s a few draft watchers that can probably give more clarity on that
The SA talent is Cochrane and then Rooney in a couple years.

SA does not do talent

If we are looking at SA players with picks for Butters, we are going to be on the bottom forever.

If Butters goes and its a big if, there is Arki Butler in this draft

Can someone make it simple and tell me if we finish bottom 2 can we get cochrane whilst keeping our pick 1/2, meaing we can get two players including cochrane in the top 4 in the draft?

I’m talking mostly about sa talent cause I’m not very familiar with the guys outside of sa.

But if you’re saying there’s not a lot of Sa talent outside of Cochrane I have to disagree. There’s seems to be plenty to be excited about coming through.

Personally look forward to watching some young high end talent playing for us. In some ways its more pleasurable then just scrapping thru in that middle group, always knowing that your really not good enuf.
