The premier should play at the Adelaide Oval in Gather Round and if the AFL is worried about the crowd, schedule Brisbane against the Crows or Power.

AFL have an agreement with SA govt to try and create a big event weekend.Pretty decent fixtures for Gather Round.
Especially like the Hawks V Dogs game.
Do Collingwood have an agreement with the AFL that they are exempt from playing an SA team in Gather Rd?
If it happens, it’s for 2027 season, not next season.I still wonder if the AFL aren't waiting to see what the NRL are doing with their first week.
If the whole comp moves overseas for a week or two then we probably see the Lions, Suns, Swans & Giants all start the year with back to back home games.

Maybe we can do like that club did some time back and put sponsors banners on the seats like in the outer wings and forward pockets to make it look like we have a crowd. Can we please play North Melbourne in Melbourne?
JHF should get the crowd up into the 10K range.
Ancient history, and it was to make money not to simulate crowd.Maybe we can do like that club did some time back and put sponsors banners on the seats like in the outer wings and forward pockets to make it look like we have a crowd.
Hawks might ask for itCan't believe Hawthorn has played at AO 8 times in two years!! Wtf? I can't see us visiting both the crows and port this time around though. It'll most likely be the crows . If ken stayed, then wouldve bookmarked port as the AFL love to milk a cow even after it dies.
Good points, plus the flight from Melbourne to Adelaide is piss all reallyHawks might ask for it
Lots of hawks supporters in SA
2 game membership to boost member numbers
It’s easy to drive to if you live north west of Melbourne cbdGood points, plus the flight from Melbourne to Adelaide is piss all really
Actually it’s 7 times in the past 2 seasons. But 2 of those in finals…Can't believe Hawthorn has played at AO 8 times in two years!! Wtf? Yeah a trip to Mt Barker and 2 games at Norwood is hardly fair especially for a team that was coming off the back of 2 grand finals. You deserve Adelaide Oval but maybe it’ll be a trip to Barossa Park lolThe premier should play at the Adelaide Oval in Gather Round and if the AFL is worried about the crowd, schedule Brisbane against the Crows or Power.
I wouldn’t say it’s an exemption as such. But the AFL would know the Pies will draw a crowd against the SA clubs at anytime so why waste it on Gather Round. Having said that, give the Rankine stuff that went down this season it wouldn’t surprise me to see Crows v Pies opening up on the Thursday nightPretty decent fixtures for Gather Round.

The Victorian media have been pushing it for Weeks that St Kilda vs Collingwood something to do with a St Kilda celebrationReading in lots of places that opening round Sunday night in Melbourne has been confirmed as St Kilda vs Collingwood. Anyone else heard this?
On one hand, it completely spits in the face of the reason of Opening RdReading in lots of places that opening round Sunday night in Melbourne has been confirmed as St Kilda vs Collingwood. Anyone else heard this?
No one truly rates Gather round as a real round until Port plays Adelaide no more free kick for the SA teamsIn regards to Gather Rd, I think there's 3 things to take into account.
1) The Vic teams share the load with away games at AO. So I expect Collingwood/St Kilda/North Melbourne/Richmond to share them. With the other 2 playing there next year.
2) Adelaide requests Thursday Night
3) You need to take into account the previous weeks games due to Easter
Brisbane vs Collingwood on Thursday
North Melbourne vs Carlton on Friday
Hawthorn vs Geelong on Monday
With a high likelihood of Fremantle vs someone (Probably Adelaide to even out breaks) Friday Night too
So I'll go with
Thursday - Adelaide vs Collingwood (AO)
Friday - Fremantle vs North Melbourne (NO)
Friday - Carlton vs Brisbane (AO)
Saturday - Essendon vs Western BUlldogs (AO)
Saturday - Richmond vs Greater Western Sydney (Barossa)
Saturday - Hawthorn vs Sydney (AO)
Sunday - West Coast vs Gold Coast (Barossa)
Sunday - Geelong vs Melbourne (NO)
Sunday - Port Adelaide vs St Kilda (AO)
As much as it makes a shit tonne of sense to utilise Collingwood's Gather Rd on Port when they're down, I think we'll see from last year, the AFL won't pass this up for the marketing side of things and give us this blockbuster.
Is it the best Rd? No.
But, I'm trying to put myself in the AFL's shoes based around pre-set matches to try and get it close to the final product.
That’ll never happen, and definitely shouldn’t be expected. If Perth, Sydney, or Brisbane hosted I wouldn’t expect their local derby to be playedNo one truly rates Gather round as a real round until Port plays Adelaide no more free kick for the SA teams
That’s where the system is broken also I think the AFL would fixture Suns vs LionsThat’ll never happen, and definitely shouldn’t be expected. If Perth, Sydney, or Brisbane hosted I wouldn’t expect their local derby to be played
Don’t mind your Gather Rd fixture, particularly bringing back the Friday twilight Norwood game.In regards to Gather Rd, I think there's 3 things to take into account.

It comes down to the drawing power of the teams. Eg: Adelaide vs Port is easily the best local derby and is one of if not the biggest rivalry in the game. It’s guaranteed to have a huge crowd, it doesn’t need to be used in Gather Round. That’s where the system is broken also I think the AFL would fixture Suns vs Lions
I guess it's 60 years since our only flag which was against the Pies, maybe that? The Victorian media have been pushing it for Weeks that St Kilda vs Collingwood something to do with a St Kilda celebration
