Would be interested how many of these Friday night double headers are being influenced by the lack of live football on free to air on Saturday in each respective non-Vic states in the first 10-12 rounds.

Channel 7 may prefer the primetime slot on Friday for the respective secondary game in those states rather than a 2 hour delay on Saturday..

Hawthorn have played early games in Tassie on ANZAC day before, so I’m assuming they will next year too, otherwise it’s too congested. The MCG game will probably be 3:15 because it’s Ch7, so they’ll run it into the news, it’ll run uncontested as well obviously. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Perth game is at 9pm eastern and they’ll stagger it with the Adelaide game at 7 or something.

Between my posts here and on the Cats board I think I've been wrong every step of the way with my Geelong fixture guesses so I'm going to stop guessing now. I had the Dogs getting a break from playing in Geelong and Port playing here. That's what I get for thinking the AFL fixture might have the slightest bit of equity.

Dogs will be playing for the 13th time in Geelong since 2011, by the way, plus they were also scheduled to play there in 2020. Meanwhile Collingwood (0), Carlton (3), Essendon (4) and Hawthorn (4) have played a combined 11 games there since 2000, and two of the 11 games were with empty grounds during COVID while another wasn't even against Geelong.

You’re probably right about 8:10 eastern start time, because that game will probably be on Ch7 too, they did it last year and this year Carlton is playing so it’ll draw viewers.

If the Essendon v Collingwood game is at 3:15, The Adelaide game would have to be at least 6pm otherwise it’ll overlap with the post game ceremonies at the MCG. More likely the two night games will overlap.

Sounds like you're proposing that Collingwood should play at Kardinia Park? Hard for Geelong to play the top Vic sides in Geelong when the AFL won't let us.

For what it's worth, our record in the first week of finals from 2012-2021 was one win and eight losses (the one win came from a miss after the siren) so if an easy kill in the last round is meant to be the fixture guy cheating for us he's done an incredibly bad job.

I want a tough game. Hopefully the sooky fans get a soft match for their team in the final round. Than they’ll just complain the start of the year is hard.

If the fixture guy favoured us he wouldn’t have given us the reigning premiers Brisbane twice in 2025 or the side who always beats us GWS.

To be fair, before the renovations at Kardinia Park, it wasn’t up to hosting games against Essendon or Carlton. It’s at a level now where no team is too big to go down there.

It's almost comical going over Geelong's final round fixtures the last decade. It's all bottom four sides, home games and easy pickings. The AFL fixture guy is a huge Cats fan btw.

All good with me, it has them nice and soft heading into the finals.

Crazy that half the games that are later on, are more promising, and they won’t be on Ch7. I’m surprised they’re putting a second game on to clash with Dreamtime. I understand neither team are pulling up trees at the moment, but Dreamtime is an important game for what it represents.

The Sydney Derby & Showdown (both good games themselves) clash with what should be high quality games. Bit bizarre.
