Why are Richmond selling a home game to Tasmania? You don't see the other big 4 clubs in Carlton, Collingwood and Essendon selling any home games interstate.
It’s smart business from Richmond. They’re redeveloping their facilities at Punt Road, so they can put the money they make from this deal towards that. They’re also in a rebuilding phase, so their fans are accepting of this sort of thing given they won three flags. It also means that aren’t playing home games at Docklands, which their supporters famously hate.

I wish my club was that smart. Instead, they move away from that clubs spiritual home at Windy Hill to train on the tarmac at Tullamarine. Also certain supplements programs didn’t go down too well.

According to this article, Collingwood has tried to sell a home game before.

Selling games north of the Barassi Line to grow the game is a different kettle of fish to selling games to Tasmania which is already a saturated AFL market. Richmond are obviously desperate for coin as their gate takings have dropped since the bandwagoners are long gone.

Like someone else has said, it is also likely a strategy to avoid hosting games at Docklands.

Thanks for this.

I'd say:

Swans v Port at the SCG - same as this year
West Coast v Giants*

*Giants generally never play during a public holiday/long weekend in Sydney, so can make a pretty safe guess Giants are playing away.

Giants home ground is out of commission for the Easter Show so it's automatically out. They could play in Canberra though.

Oh great, Bombers again in GR🙄. Lam

That is fine and logical. But my question is why Brisbane. Surely with our Melbourne supporter base we should be one of their MCG games? We should be able to outdraw the WA clubs, port, GC, GWS and North. Why do North and Richmond want to play us in Tasmania two years in a row.

Maybe it is designed as a homecoming for Chris Fagan?

We don’t know what Richmond’s home games are. What if they have all of Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, Geelong, Hawthorn, Melbourne, St Kilda, Sydney, the Western Bulldogs plus one other? Brisbane have good support in Melbourne due to their Fitzroy links, not as much as Sydney though. Richmond sold off their marvel game so they won’t play the Bulldogs or St Kilda there, nor do they usually.

It may just be that on the weekend the computer spit out Richmond v Brisbane, Collingwood, Carlton and Melbourne all had home games too, and they had to be at the MCG. I’m not going to comment on what North Melbourne’s situation is. Maybe if they played Brisbane in Melbourne they could open up the third level at Docklands! It’s an away game though, you don’t get to choose.

This
People are stupid, they let hatred get in the way of opinion.
Having an easy last game is horrible. It rarely works does it?

I want a tough game. Hopefully the sooky fans get a soft match for their team in the final round. Than they’ll just complain the start of the year is hard.

Can’t win arguing against nuffies.

If the fixture guy favoured us he wouldn’t have given us the reigning premiers Brisbane twice in 2025 or the side who always beats us GWS.

7-5 in our double ups.
10-1 against sides we played once.

But hey let them sook.
Yep, I actually think it benefitted us this year 1: having a hard draw and 2: having a tough game to finish off the regular season. Meant we were match hardened come September.

I find all the nuffies on the lions pages complaining about another tough draw amusing. No point having an easy draw, finishing top of the ladder then getting found out in September because you're not properly tough match hardened.

Hopefully the NRL give Storm a home game during gather round as the fixture looks boring and I'll want something to do
In other words - There's nothing to do in Melbourne when there's no sport on.

Crazy that half the games that are later on, are more promising, and they won’t be on Ch7. I’m surprised they’re putting a second game on to clash with Dreamtime. I understand neither team are pulling up trees at the moment, but Dreamtime is an important game for what it represents.
Local times
With the timezone difference it isn't a clash.

Disgusting that Collingwood/Port Adelaide/Carlton get to play on the day considering they didn't cease for the war effort. Infact, Collingwood and Carlton even pocketed the charity for themselves.

Afl should perpetually give Collingwood/Carlton/Richmond (and if you had to, due to needing to do a 4th) /Brisbane the bye over ANZAC Rd

Has the grand final date been set yet? Wanted to book flights early.
Just book refundable tickets.
I did that this year, cancelled and just used the credit to go to Melbourne for the SF this Saturday

Can someone do me a favour and change the thread title to "2026 Fixture - finalised" (or similar) when the whole thing comes out.

This drip feed shit so they can keep our attention longer and make sports journalists feel relevant can get in the bin
That'll be in August when Rd 23 times get locked in.

I’m sorry I don’t understand. If a game is on at 7:20pm AEST, and a game is on at 7:40pm ACST (which is 8:10pm AEST), they will be on the TV at the same time, no? They will obviously be at different stages in the match.

Next to 3:15pm in Rd 4 it says local times

So when refering to Rd 11
Dreamtime at the G - 7:40pm AET
Fremantle vs St Kilda - 8:30 AWT (10:30 AET)
So no clash.

It’s 8:30pm AEST. Why would they put a game on at 10:30 at night in their biggest market? When one of the teams is a Victorian team as well. I know it says local time but the game won’t be at 10:30pm.

not even close to being correct.
but I wouldn't expect you with your little club to understand how finances work or why Richmond are doing it.
