Selling games north of the Barassi Line to grow the game is a different kettle of fish to selling games to Tasmania which is already a saturated AFL market. Richmond are obviously desperate for coin as their gate takings have dropped since the bandwagoners are long gone.
not even close to being correct.
but I wouldn't expect you with your little club to understand how finances work or why Richmond are doing it.

I’m done with the ****s at head office 5 years not one game at Adelaide Oval in gather round so much for being the Premiers it’s like we’re being punished for beating AFL pets in Grand Finals we get treated like a second class citizen
If you’re going to rant, try to get your facts straight. 2026 will be the fourth Gather Round

One with half the ground a construction site. That Thursday Night blockbuster (which is actually a SF replay between two of the bigger clubs) is going to be something…
If Ballarat isn't in shape to hold games in 2026, York Park probably isn't either. But it might be tricky to move Hawthorn's games back a year or two.

Opening Round as a concept rang hollow last year when NSW & QLD were no longer guaranteed to see their two sides on FTA every week. Mother Nature made her displeasure known yet here we are again with EastFL round. WA get an Origin, SA get gather round, seems to be the dill’s thinking.

Very surprising that it looks like they have got rid of the Sunday night Q clash on the QLD long weekend
Which is dumb, but then again AFL.

North Melbourne only getting 1 FTA game in the first 15 weeks is a disgrace. I understand they’ve been a terrible team for a decade, but the FTA schedule needs to be fairer than this.

Carlton getting so many Thurs and Fri night games is insane. By round 10, the conversation will once again be on why they’re hogging the spotlight. We go through this every other year.

One great thing about opening round is Carlton v Richmond isn't the season opener.

Very much looking forward to the lack of Thursday or Friday nights. Suspect Anzac eve on a Friday night will be the only one we get.

Club won’t be happy but from a fan perspective give me 1:20 saturdays or 1:10 sundays any time.
I’m with you mate. Much prefer the early afternoon games. Gives your weekend predictability and structure when you know your team is playing mostly day games on the weekend.

I’m happy to watch neutral Thursday night games but not a great fan of attending them.

unless your in the AFL circle jerk you get left out in the cold.
Only other way is if the AFL back you in to climb the ladder with a rocket - like Ess and Carlton this year...which ultimately failed for all involved.

Absolutely, Thursday nights are a tv event. I’ll go to all games regardless if the times but it certainly sucks getting home at midnight on a work night.

Wasn’t there some AFL official just last week who bragged about taking advance of public holidays in different states?
