For all the bleating and twisted panties about the unfairness of our academy we have only ever had one top 10 in the draft academy kid and that's Daniel Annable.

As far as father/sons go, post 2010 it is the Ashcroft's(Picks 2&5) and Fletcher(12), fair enough they were high picks but hardly unfair, it is a competition wide option available to all clubs except the Suns and Giants(ATM).

Our success is down to some great selections later in the draft and extremely astute trading/free agency recruits.

Motty a late first rounder too. Hard to believe he'll hit 100 games this season.
Motty on course to break Wayne Schimmelbusch's 1977 record for shortest amount of time to reach 100 games. 13 to go. Will succeed if it he completes the deal this season.

Edit for clarity: Home and away season

It makes me nervous 😬 when these things come up.

NAS obviously a star then it is very grim until Motty. The three taken from pick 17-19 have been pretty underwhelming as well.
Funny draft that one on reflection. We were heavily linked to Wilmot from a long way out, with an eye on Sinn if he slipped. Happy that didn’t happen, as you stated, not the best selections just prior to Mottys.

JVR does shows a bit every now and again though. The Lohmann selection came with a few melts on our boarding for passing on the Pendlebury clone of Matthew Johnson.
Very happy how that all panned out in the end

We had Wilmot ahead of Sinn and Chesser.

From memory, had JVR been there, we would have gone JVR ahead of Lohmann.

JVR is also about the age and experience you'd expect a key forward to start consistently performing (not many can be Morris). He would have been a decent selection at the time

They also get access to him as a restricted free agent.
Not sure where the restricted part comes in - they can sign uncontracted players as free agents, one per club, and Logan won't qualify as any other free agency to allow multiple players to be signed (e.g. they sign one as an uncontracted player and a separate player as a normal free agent).

Are there any limits on how many players Tassie can sign from one team?
One per team using the uncontracted player mechanism, but presumably any number of actual free agents under the same rules as other clubs.

Are we still allowed to match?

They can't get him without a trade I think.
He's only 3 years into system so there is no real way for them to land him via free agency.
We won't delist him to help Tassie get him through uncontracted path either so Tassie will need to come to table.

Tasmania will have two years to attract up to 18 uncontracted players as 'free agents' from rival clubs, with a maximum of one player per club.

Clubs that lose uncontracted players to Tasmania via this concession will be given compensation picks in return, in a new model that will see clubs given one or more 'floating' picks where the club can choose which draft year they fall in.

Logan Morris a 'priority' target for Tasmania according to Gettable (on AFL.com.au).
Unless he said some more strongly worded things in the episode, the quotes on the FoxFooty article read more like they’d be silly not to have him as a target than any direct mail he had. 1 + 1 =2 reporting. Merely reporting he is out of contract, due for a big pay day and they would have his name circled on their whiteboard.

Could be a good thing actually. We might fast track that extension to shut this down quickly. We have an excuse now to initiate the discussions and see where it goes.
