For sure. He's raw but some things to like about him. But definitely caught the eye whenever I've watched him.
Reads the ball well, intercepts and makes quick decisions to rebound.
But probably makes a bit more sense for a rebuilding team perhaps like * who are apparently interested, as well as Dees.
I'd love to draft Hibbins-Hargreaves, but probably just going to have the one pick.

I like how as soon as he intercepts he goes back at the oppo taking territory. Players like Ash and Zorko are so good at it. So many scores come from catching defences out. An area we could improve so much

Yep. Probably not as polished as some of the more mature options or Noah McNemamin.

I don’t mind Tarrant, but he won’t be able to compete as a ruck at AFL level imo. So it will be key forward or bust for him.

Too much float time on his kicking IMO. Need hard flat kicks coming out of defence.

Yep. I'd agree with that. More penetration. McMenamin I think uses it a little better and a little taller.
But somebody that 190cm height that can rebound is something we don't have many on the list.

I think we need to hold a vigil. He's so under-appreciated, gets it 30 times a game, just the centrepiece of our dynamic run and gun game plan.

The knock on juniors was his durability, it’s a non issue now as his body has matured. He has hardly missed a game in 2 years at VFL level.

If we have a pick and Bamert is gone these are a few who I like:

Key Defence:

• Tom Barnett - Coburg
• Ryan Eyers* - Werribee

General Defence:

• Ben Debolfo* - Collingwood VFL
• Louis Pinnuck - Werribee VFL

Midfield/Half Back:

• Marcus Herbert** - Geelong VFL
• Louis Montgomery^ - GWS VFL

Key Forward:
- James Tarrant - North VFL

Small Forward:
- Andreas Stefanakis - Sandringham VFL


* Liked them in their draft years, have progressed well in VFL. Eyers is a long rangy 200cm defender, more of a shutdown type. De Bolfo a 189cm defender, who’s a dour shutdown type on mediums and smalls with a little bit of an intercept game, believe he’s Collingwood VFL game. Probably don’t have PODs but they do a job and maybe that’s all we need in defence.

** Herbert is in my opinion the best player in the VFL that’s not too old. Thought he was draft able in his draft year, smooth mover, decent user. Plays midfield but can play half back.

^ Louis Montgomery - can’t say I’ve watched too much of him but will back RF in.

The rest are guys more on the mid-season radar. My preference is Barnett for another young developing key defender. Does a lot well. Tarrant we all know what he can do, probably too old for mine. Same as Pinnuck, who we would have trained over preseason if allowed. Can’t go wrong with another experienced presence down back (who is actually a defender) but limited room for error being almost 28. That being said, worth a 6 month trial at this stage if need be. Stefanakis is a zippy forward for sandy who has been filling up the stat sheet. Could he be a papley type? Do we need another non-guaranteed shot at small forward to add to Banch/Konstanty/Spargo/Dovaston? Probably not.
