Is there a chance they are reluctant to add another to the list, as that would have us two over maximum, and result in us needing to delist a minimum of 5 at the end of the year?

It depends on Bamerts contract terms.

Most of them are only on 6 month contracts anyway.

Trying to fit a player in is a good contract to have. We have many options and many list cloggers to work that out.

No it can't be that, numbers. Very easy to delist 5.

CCJ, Scott, Fisher, Coors, Harvey, Hansen without even thinking. Banch, Urquhart, darling, pink, George and Goater have plenty to do in the remainder of this season to get another year.

Then there's Wardlaw, hardeman, Simpkin, Dawson and Duurs who all have either seeked opportunities elsewhere or STILL not signed on again.

If there’s any genuine nature to how much cash we’ve got - surely we’d be getting bamert to name some serious terms

Anyone know what Tairon Ah Mu is up to this year? I thought he'd be an excellent prospect for us in the Tommy Hawkins mold which is slightly alleviated by Trembath's emergence but I'd still be keen!
I've been keeping tabs on him as I thought he was very unlucky to not get drafted.

Made his VFL debut last weekend for Casey, had 9 disposals, 2 marks and kicked 3.0. Spent a bit of time as the backup ruck too and had 5 hitouts and 2 clearances.

Not bad for a 18 year old on debut.

Might not be as pressing a need for us now but I would be very happy to have a crack at him.

I was a fan last year too. I actually watched the second half of that game (don’t ask me why lol).

He must not of touched it in the first half because he did all of that in the second half.

He was very good, you can still see he lacks mobility (he must be about 110kg) but he’s bloody strong, excellent hands (two of those marks were genuine pack splitters) and he has a really nice uncomplicated kicking action.

Lions had some decent AFL experienced defenders too (Liam Jones, Darragh Joyce)

Think his younger brother has started the year pretty well as an under ager.

I hate myself for this.

Past participle of seek is sought.

Sorry.

He is a big lump of a kid. His best bet to get drafted would be to run himself into the ground and drop all that puppy fat. When he gets a run at the ball he is very very hard to shift.

Younger brother looks a lot more mobile than Tairon. Going to end up a high pick next I reckon.

I like Jake Smith or Jack Riding from Werribee.

Jake Smith should have been taken in his draft year IMO, and has come a long way at Werribee from a role player to an essential part of their midfield alongside Charlie Lazarro. Super classy, can play inside/outside and very versatile positionally - doing his apprenticeship at Werribee and biding his time to win a midfield spot has been good for him.

Jack Riding trained with Hawthorn over the preseason and they chose not to go with him, but I think there's a place for him at AFL level. You could put his last 15 games at VFL level against anyone else and make an argument he's been the best player in the comp over that time. He's a hard edged midfielder who hits the scoreboard regularly - I could see him playing basically any position on the ground outside key position posts/ruck.

Yep liked the look of Riding at the Hawks watching him in one preseason game.
Puts his body on the line and willing to take on the game on and hit difficult kicks was my impression.
A bit like a tougher version of Riley Byce, who uses it well, but can have the odd turnover.

Does Smith have much of an athletic POD? I can't recall his testing. I know he has improved his running considerably, but looks a little one paced for mine. Love his work by hand, but his kicking imo can be a bit hit and miss. Always felt like he missed out in his draft year because of the Western Jets tax.

Love Riding's tenacity, I reckon that trait alone would hold him in good stead at AFL level, but kicking would be the biggest question mark. Any sort of pressure and he blazes away.

Another positive to adding Bamert is it gives a friend to Lachie Dovaston as well from Ranges.

A few names I've liked the look of as top-age players in the Coates League are...

Wil Antrobus from Dandy Stingrays as a rebounding 182cm half back with a penetrating left foot kick with a run and gun rebound game. Good composure, willing to take on some aggressive inside kicks.
The size/height might be a bit of a question mark compared to Bamert at your 186cm.

Noah McMenamin from Western Jets shows some promise as a 188cm swingman who looks pretty athletic to the eye at least and takes some nice grabs. Pretty good composure when he was playing down back.

Jordan Knapp a 179cm mid/fwd from Eastern Ranges has been pretty impressive, very clean, strong workrate, gets a stack of footy and has a bit of class. But probably not a huge need for us given what we have.
I'd probably be keener to add someone taller with a strong body like Bamert vs Knapp though.
