especially with 1 more year on his contract, we have no power. We'd have to overpay. Wait another year and get him for a late first.
Wait another year and he can more or less pick his club with the veiled threat of walking into the psd for nothing.

Gonna be so much easier to attract players the way we play now.
We could only manage Luke Dunstan in a premiership year lol.

And he only came coz Goody LIED straight to his face.

Surely there is some dickhead on the board who is into property development and we could "pay" some players like Geelong do.
Who wouldn’t want to get their hands on some beautiful cheap land out in Cranbourne!

Cranbourne is basically The Great Ocean Road of the east.

Who wouldn't trust our board to help you find some land in a short amount of time

I hope we’re in the Zac Bailey race. Would be unreal to grab him as a FA and still have two first round picks.

According to Morris, there’s even an ace in the pack of his pyramid, that being GWS star Jesse Hogan.
While the 31-year-old hasn’t been at his best in 2026, Morris thinks he could become very gettable for a rival club that’s willing to offer him a strong contract, given GWS aren’t anywhere near meeting his demands currently.

Just remembered this. Wonder if we are chatting with his management at all about bringing him home.

Couple of years too late for it IMO, and I say that as someone who’d have loved to have seen it happen for quite a while.

Been a bit inconsistent this year, but he’s actually had a pretty great run at GWS. Put in some great finals performances in particular and some regular H&A shows against the top teams since 2024. Happy for him. But can understand why GWS aren’t keen to fork out much more, reckon he’s pretty much reached his ceiling and his durability has always been a concern. They’re always fighting a salary cap battle in general with their other guys too, who would take priority, and I don’t think they’ve ever been a side to keep paying older players super well when they’ve made their packet in their earlier years.

The romance would be awesome but he looks close to the cliff and we already have Miho as that veteran goalkicker/leader.

Yep, with Mihocek/JVR/Jeffo and Kentfield in the VFL unless we somehow hooked an A grade forward I can't see us trading one in without moving one of JVR/Jeffo on, and at this stage we probably aren't doing that. Either bring in smalls or a big KPD.

Hogan is a big upgrade over anyone we have, dont really see the cliff with him, GWS are down across the board this year. I wouldnt be against it if we could ship someone like Jefferson off for a first.

At his age you’d get him pretty cheap especially if it’s a case where Giants don't want to stump up for him. Basically how we got Mihocek as well.

Yeah they're not 1) Getting a first for Jeffo 2) Going for Hogan 3) Ditching Jeffo to get Hogan

Gawn is a big rap for Jeffo, so I reckon the club is happy with his development.

That offer for the jam to refill your donuts still stands mate.

? Why am I unhappy? I couldn't give a shit if Jefferson stayed lol, not saying we should be pushing him out the door for **** all. Just saying if we think we are in with a shot at a premiership its the type of move you could make coz you wouldnt need to give up insane draft capital.

I could see a team potentially offering a first for Jefferson. Young KPF would have some teams interested.

Mihocek been good but the wheels could easily fall off late in the year.

JVR is hot and cold.

You're not ditching a young key forward who is starting to show his development is kicking in for a bloke who looks like the older player injury run might be beginning - As good as he's been. Too big a gamble with your future.

Mihocek a watch for sure at his age, but he's played more games than Hogan so far this year and all of last year.

Mihocek played 11 games in 24 and has 13 goals in 8 games this year as a 33 year old

Hogan kicked 46 in 16 games last year, if you're writing him off while backing Mihocek I can't help you. Hogan's way better and is clearly playing injured. He'd kicked 50+ in our forward line

Depends how many teams want him for that big money. If the Giants have a few takers even if he nominates someone they might throw a fuss and try and extract something more for him and hold up the trade from going through. They wouldn’t have much to lose by just sending him to the preseason draft if the best they’re being offered is peanuts, esp given how many draft picks they always seem to have.

Of course if there’s not much demand for Jesse at his asking price the Giants would probably take a future third rounder or even pick swap for him from anyone.

Yes, you would only get him on the provision of him being cheap. Also when has a player ever not ended up where they want to ho after being walked to the midseason draft?

Nick Stevens wanted to go to Collingwood and ended up at Carlton.

I remember when he got asked about it, he said he always wanted to play for a big Victorian club whether that was Collingwood or a Carlton. Trying to save face, he really wanted to win a premiership which was with Collingwood.
