Don't think its great too let Mihochek walk at 33 becaue we are tring to reduce our age demographic, only to recruit a 34 year old midfielder a year later.

Us going for Neale this early on, reeks that we have missed out on all our targets (Butters, Bailey, Humphrey) and are now looking to a stop gap.

we shouldn’t recruit a top mid in the AFL because it won’t look good?

What?? You are speaking about age as if that is the only consideration.

Mihocek was an undersized workhorse KPF whose body was breaking down (see it having already done so this year), and was on the decline. Neale is one of the best mids in the competition who takes incredible care of his body, recovers improbably fast (see last years grand final that he won for Brisbane), and plays a position more suited to longevity.

Read into it what you will

After almost half the season… you’re being intentionally misleading`

Am I? He turns 34 in May 2027, 2 months after the start of the season and 4 months before finals.

I don't mind the idea of Neale, but signals to me missed that we have missed out on other targets we wanted.

The best midfielder on the reigning back-to-back premier is a good backup to pursue

Given the no of small forwards we have , I wouldn't mind converting one of them into a midfielder or a key position defender.

Loved Brodie, but he's cooked.
Already broken down & it's only early in the season.

We'd be mad to bank on getting any of those. Brisbane will probably make sure they keep Bailey and we'll hardly be the only team interested in him - the other two will cost a bomb in trade. Like last year, we'll be looking to add a mid. Hopefully we get a good one - one with a lot of time ahead would be great, but a good one for a short time would be very good too.

Who do you suggest we part with ?
Hayes, Schultz and saxena would obviously be on the no trade list.

If HH can return to his form pre ACL, then we will have a very dynamic small forward who is smart and can eventually move up the ground and potentially enter the midfield mix.

For me the two candidates would be beau and hill.

As far as talent goes, would obviously not even think about letting hill leave. Unfortunately in his case it is more than just the talent, we have to know where his head is at and what is the best situation for him long term .

We can't keep affording for him to take extended leave if absences, especially because of the contract he is on. Both have to be honest with each other, which situation will ensure that bobby will be able to maintain a full time attendance at the club.

As for beau, he just hasn't taken the leap like we need him to . I will cut him some slack because he has had an interrupted pre season, but we need to see more from him. This is his 6th year in the system, and he really should be more than just a speed forward who does few good acts a game. He has the capacity for more.

I could see Brisbane prioritising Bailey over Neale.
Well not sure neale will stay in Brisbane because he wouldn't be any closer to his family in WA.

I personally see him either moving to SA or back to WA.

Given bailey's leap, his contract offers will be through the roof. Not sure the lions cap is in a position to be able to match the kind of offers we or other clubs like essendon can throw Bailey's way.

33 or 34 , not like its a talking difference of a 24 year old to a 32 year old

Does he improve us , absolutely , Interesting space to watch

I feel we have to do something to support Nick more in the midfield
I’m already salivating at Neale dishing it out to Naicos. Far out. Enough 😂

It’s round 9. I won’t be getting my hopes up again 😩

Despite by previous comments, I would support going for Neale (on the right terms)….

But just hope we have other irons in the fire, on top of a player that will be 34 in early 2027.

We have to do something to support Nick.

Lachie Neale isn't that thing. Too old.

When would we realistically challenge for a premiership? I'd say maybe, everything going right, in 3+ years.

So better to try to get early draft picks plus a 24-26 year old B+ player (Perryman was meant to be that), either a midfielder or a key position.

Butters and Bailey are huge costs. Humphrey appeals, in a recent game he was rated in the bottom 3. Mihochek was struggling and list balance the end of this year is totally different than last year. The end of Howes, Pendles, Sidey and Membrey totally changes the list profile from when Checkers left. The competition for players is fierce, they may not be available to the pies. Neale will not cost $750, I suspect that is lower than the first bid. Don’t care about Fev news, I’m just on the train.
