Believe it or not, not a lot of footy fans want to spend time watching literal kids play football at junior level. They prefer to watch the professional level of the sport. I would not describe watching kids play junior footy as getting off of one's "backside".

Since being drafted, Walter has in fact not proven a whole lot. Junior level does not translate to top level the way you're suggesting. Get a grip mate.
Do they still have the rules in juniors where the forward line remains open?

I hope if we miss out on a quality mid this year we are still staying in touch with Rowell for end of next year.
Guaranteed we're still in touch with Rowell. I don't have the links but Fly suggested as much after Rowell extended at the Suns. Apparently he was pretty close to coming across and there's a good relationship there. He'd be fantastic for us and has a long term connection to a bunch of our boys.

He's 8 months older than Charlie West, and in 5 of his 6 games this season he's kicked multiple goals.

Saying he "barely touches it" is ridiculous when multiple of those touches are goals.

He's kicking more goals per game and basically the same disposals as Dan McStay, so he's not only an immediate upgrade on our leading goal kicker right now, but he's about to turn 21, so has massive scope for improvement.

There's no narrative you can spin that's going to make Jed Walter into a distressed asset that should come cheap.

Another stat comparison which is pretty similar is Reef McInness the forward.

Walter is currently a fringe player in his third year. He's got awesome attributes, but there's no way he's close to having held his draft value. However, discussing his value now is pretty pointless, with Read out for them, he'll get opportunities - how he goes will have a big impact on both his trade value and the likelihood of him requesting a trade - his value could head in either direction quite significantly before trade season is on us.

You are severely overrating his play by just looking at goals. Way too simplistic for his minimal impact

At 195cm he seems like another one of those in between forwards. We've been down that road for 2 decades.

real chance this years first will be inside the top 10. Its time for a key forward (I could live with a gun kid to run with Nick)

Heights not an issue - his contest stuff is good which is when height is an advantage or disadvantage. It's the game sense, work rate and forward craft to get involved in a lot of contests and also get uncontested ball that seperates the good forwards from the chaff. Wow potential - but you've got to perform, and he doesn't yet. He's an exciting prospect ... but hasn't done close to enough yet to have held close to his pick 3 value that he had at 18. But he's still got half a season where he might massively bump his value - or have it drop further.

I’d like Neale to take Prindable under his wing and teach him everything he knows (about football).
If he teaches everything else he knows we could end up with a half dozen little bastard Prindables for F-S picks. Just get him!

He's 20, 105kg, 6'5'' and moves like lightning. I hope we get him now before he builds his tank.

How are hawks favourite for Ben king I thought he is going to sign for 2 more years

Been away from this for a while, but if we somehow managed Neale for free, it's not the worst.

Pendles, Sidey big chances to retire. I think Howe is playing well when on the park and could stay next year.

Butters for x2 firsts and Beau is a bad list management decision, but it would be so amazing to see Nick and Zac play together and may draw other free agents to sign with us. It won't happen though, apart from Buckley, we have never signed that very top level talent ever.

I don’t think he’s a distressed asset that will come cheaply, but at the same time I don’t think we should be overpaying for a player who could still go either way in terms of his career trajectory 2 years in to his career. A later first rounder would be appropriate. A top 10 pick, absolutely not.

If we were offering a first for him it would have to be a future first, because this draft is too valuable to us imo given how compromised the next few will be.

195cm and 105kg is genuine key forward size no matter how you try to spin it. There have been more key forward Coleman medallist’s at that size or under over the past decade than uber tall 200cm ones. The kid is tall enough, built like a tank, the only question should be is he good enough, because he sure as shit is big enough.

He’s an awesome size and a really good athlete. Which makes him a bit torturous - he really should be tearing up the competition, especially the VFL

I think there is question marks on his footy IQ

I remember Medhurst being interviewed during game day coverage soon after joining the Pies. Every moment it felt like he was a long time Pies hater who was now playing for the club. I still smile about his clear emotions. He was amused about where he was.
What a great player he was
To think blair got picked ahead of him in 2010

Finishing lower will certainly help us with Walter, offering an earlier 1st and a first next year will be what it takes to convince GCS, (great if we can do it with just one 1st Rd pick and a 2nd rounder next year) doesn't matter what we think - he is young, big and powerful and shown much more than any of other young kids albeit early still. He is exactly what we need along with Neale - as a start for 2027

I'd be very happy to get him too. To me, it's worth having a look at his draft year to get an idea of where he'd probably go if that draft was done again.

Good prospect stull, but not likely to be top 10 - somewhere between 10 and 20 is what I think he'd be worth.

He hasn't shown a lot more than "any of the other young kids" - same draft - Caddy, Morris, Curtin and O'Sullivan are talls clearly ahead of him. Read and Dear are on a similar level at this stage. Lots of mids/forwards - led by Harley and Watson - well ahead of him. He's a teens pick if that draft is done again. I don't know if that draft is well above average or not?

He’s out of contract, we’re not giving that up.
