I would be offering him a 4 year deal tomorrow.
Can’t afford to lose him
I doubt he’d leave. Even though he’s improving I doubt there are many midfields he’s walking into.

Pretty easy selling point saying he can run around with the best midfielder in the comp who’s the same age.

Have not watched any of the footy shows tonight but it appears Fly has doubled down on AFL360 on being impatient and not wanting a proper list build

We don't need a proper list build. We are rejuvenating talent to stay competitive while Tasmania dominate the draft.
Adding Neale and Walter makes us competitive while shipping of some old guys like Membrey, Sidey, Howe? Pendles?
Add in one of the best 18 year old midfielders in the country via the draft while guys like Allan, Hayes, Swadling and West all hopefully become permanent fixtures. That way we bridge our age while remaining competitive around Naicos.

I think Lachie Neale would be an excellent acquisition for 2-3 years
And there is no trade cost
But we won’t be contending in next 2-3 years so does it make sense to burn the salary cap on a player who won’t be around when next in finals ??

If we end up finishing the trade period with Neale + Ballard + Walter + keeping our first then I’d argue that’s a better haul than 2022.

If we aren’t contending in the next 2-3 years, when will we be?

I keep hearing this timeframe in here.

In 3 years all of our next senior players will likely be gone/ going and need replacing. So how we will be contending then? but not the next 2-3?

After 2021 we weren’t going to be competing for years to come.

In his presser when asked about us winning the close games he did say not to compare this team to our premiership team and our current team is not that of a premiership team. It sounded to me that he knows we aren't winning it this year which did feel like new admission despite him saying we are middle of the ladder team a few weeks ago.

Hoping we don’t go mad for Walter. Just don’t see it there.

Grab Neale, draft Tex/Drever & bring in Ballard and we’re laughing
Seems like we’re going all in for Walter + Neale, Ballard would be a bonus. We’re clearly cashed up for it.

That and keeping our first would be a great off season.

I don't see how we retain our first round pick this year while keeping Walter. Maybe we give a future first which will turn to a pick in the 20s because of Tassie and potentially our second this year.

Tex is a bit old - even for us.

This years first is not on the table. It just cannot be.
Future first maybe

If they rate Walter at the rumoured contract offer - fair chance it would be.
